Compatible with most brands, with safely replaceable parts so you can ride sustainably.
When an E-bike battery fails, 90% of the time, its just 1 or 2 cells that are dead inside or a single electronic component. But since traditional batteries are spot welded and glued, there is no chance to replace the faulty part and you need to replace the complete battery.
The infinite battery is different. It uses a technology that makes it easy and safe to replace any parts, including lithium-ion cells.
It doesn’t require any specific tools nor knowledge. It takes less than 10 minutes.
In order for you to be able to replace your current battery, we have reimplemented the communication protocols of all major brands. If your current battery is generic (only two wires going to the motor) then it’s even simpler, it’s compatible.
For the mechanical compatibility side, the infinite can replace any battery that is externally mounted (on the down tube, on the seat tube). if your battery is on the rear rack, you can either fix the mounting support included on the rear rack or any other place on the bike (seat tube, on the front rack etc).
The only case where the Infinite is not compatible, is when your battery is integrated inside the frame. In this case, you can replace it (but it won’t be very clean, or use both batteries at the same time to extend your range (use a battery mixer, see add-ons).
The battery is shipped with a universal support that can be fixed easily on the frame. It replaces the current mounting system you have on your bike. Inside, you’ll find a wire locking system that enables you to connect the wires without any tools. The last step, that you need to do only once, is to select the brand of the motor, so that the battery can speak the same language.
Depending on your bike, this process take between 10 to 30 minutes.
The previous version of our battery is being used by Pony since 2022 on thousands of e-bikes in the harshest conditions. This helped us to solve a number of issues and inspired us for the Infinite battery. The main difference, is the casing that we have developed for the Infinite that is much more solid, waterproof and fireproof.
We hold 6 patents on various part of this design and we work already with 4 factories to produce the different components of the battery.
Contrary to traditional battery pack, we integrated everything into contact plates that act as springs so we don’t have to solder the cells together. This is the key to make assembly/disassembly easy, fast and safe. It has many side benefits (cell level fusing, thermistances integrated to the plate and many more). We are very opened to our innovation and we tend to document everything in the documentation website.
We developed a proprietary BMS based on Texas Instrument BQ chips (specialised in battery management) and ESP32 for connectivity (Wifi & Bluetooth). This BMS is certified ISO-13849 by SGS. On top of traditional battery measurements (voltages, currents, temperatures) we added an accelerometer and a humidity sensor that we think are really useful to understand the origin of a problem.
This app, is not required to use the battery, it is a nice companion tool to diagnose and tune it. In order to ensure a continuity of the hardware, we are going to make it open source.
Letting people repair or even use salvaged cells requires to step up in the safety we offer. We have designed a thermal management system and a specific casing able to withstand the complete burning of the battery pack so that you’re covered.
This unique approach costs a few hundred grams surcharge but we think it’s worth it.
Not only is the battery great thanks to the repairability, connectivity and fireproofness, but we packed a lot of extra features!
Shipping and Fulfillment will be handled by Easyship Collect. Due to the current volatility of shipping costs, shipping payments will be collected after the end of the campaign, close to our ship date. This will allow us to present the most accurate and up-to-date prices to pass savings on to you, our valued backers.
You will be able to:
- Pay for shipping costs on the spot
- Choose from three different carriers: Cheapest, Fastest, Hybrid(Best Value)
- Pay for taxes and duties (if due) on the spot as well to avoid delays.
- Have the ability to add shipping insurance to the package
Once the production is finished, 3 batches will be dispatched to 3 warehouses (Los Angeles, Amsterdam and Hong Kong) from where individual shipment will depart with the carrier of your choice.
The Infinite Battery ships as kit that you assemble yourself. It takes 10 minutes and no knowledge at all and you get to learn and understand your battery. If you want a full working solution, add the cells to your purchase, that is all you need.
Here is video showing the unboxing and assembly of the battery:
We give the power to users
We believe in a decentralized approach where the user or the local bike shop can repair and refurbish easily. We have simplified the design but also brought transparency and data to battery management. Our batteries are connected and traceable. Finally, we considerably lowered the risk by providing a casing that can withstand a fire and protect people and goods.
Our Story
I started this company in 2019 because I loved the impact of e bikes on our cities and way of life. I live in Bordeaux France with my wife and two kids and I bring them every morning in my cargo bike. The shear joy that I have just comuniting is liberating. As an engineer and maker, I soon noticed that batteries where the only pain point. Since then I have been developing a product that could both solve sustainability and empowerment issues that batteries bring along. I have raised funds, hired many brilliant people, worked with many companies (especially in the sharing business that nearly collapsed), traveled to spread the idea, met suppliers, factories. Fought at the European Council against big firms lobbyists pushing against repairability. Learned a lot.
This campaign is a way to return to the original vision of giving the power to actual users. It has been a frustration for me to sell only to brands and not being able to solve real people’s problems. I’m on the path to unfold this to their basic simplicity and solve a big problem while savoring the aesthetic of a simple solution.
