The KEA KIT can be customised and adapted to any type of adventure. The modular design allows you to simply put the whole kit into your pack, or just remove the internal cases to use on their own for those shorter trips. Each case fitted with an external loop so it can easily be clipped onto any pack and internal organisation compartments help to easily pack your gear to suit any adventure.

 

 

The KEA KIT was designed for both safety and convenience so we made it compact & lightweight. It fits easily into any outdoor backpack or hiking pack, helping you to easily prepare with all your essential survival gear in one easy access case. The compact design size also means it’s also great for storing as a backup survival kit in your Car, RV, Home, Boat.

We hear you…. Survival kits out there today are poorly designed and mostly full of cheap, flimsy gear that you’ll never use, not to mention trust with your life. Leaving you vulnerable and with a false sense of security.

To ensure we get you the best rate possible, we have decided to charge shipping after the campaign has ended and closer to the time of delivery. This will be managed in our pledge manager post-campaign. We will strive to get the best rates possible at the time and the rates below are current upper estimates and we hope to get them lower. The KEA KIT was inspired by the spectacular, native New Zealand Alpine Parrot, the Kea. As the world only alpine parrot, they are cheeky, curious and have adapted to use the tools at their disposal to survive in one of the harshest environments in the world. Sadly they are listed as an endangered species, with only a few thousand Kea living in the wild.

We are passionate about these special birds and that’s why we have partnered with the Kea Conservation Trust to help support them in their mission to protect KEA and improve their future prospects in the wild.

The Kea Conservation Trust was set up in 2006 to assist in conservation of wild Kea in their natural habitat. Their mission is to ensure an enriched and sustainable future for both wild and captive Kea populations for the long-term benefit of all New Zealanders.

 

 

The idea for the KEA KIT was born in early 2020 during the first Covid-19 lockdown in New Zealand. With the international borders closing, Matt’s guiding work quickly dried up so he decided it was time to work on a problem that had been bugging him for years. “How can I make it easier to carry everything I need to be prepared for all my outdoor adventures, without compromising on quality”.

Like most keen adventurers, Matt was frustrated with the current survival kit options on the market, with no serious options that you can trust. So that’s when it began, Matt decided it was time to solve the problem and build a kit that covered all the bases. After a rough hand drawing, we constructed a 3D model to better realise the concept and that’s when we knew this could be something good. 

 

 

 

We set off to find a manufacturer and after a bit of trail & error we settled on a factory that also supplies some of the world’s top bag manufacturers.  With the case being a work in progress, we were constantly in the process of sourcing the best pieces of gear to go inside. Keeping to the motto of “Everything you need, Nothing you don’t” we resisted the urge to add anything but the essentials, ensuring that you have just what you need, when you need it.

Following over a year of development and testing, we now have a finished product that we are excited to be sharing it with all the adventurers around the world.  We are dedicated to continually improving the KEA KIT and look forward to engaging with our Kickstarter community to find more ways we can help make your outdoor adventures better!

 

The Founder/Creator 

Matt Butler is the founder of beREDI Outdoors, and the creator of the KEA KIT. As a Professional Outdoor Adventure and Fly Fishing Guide in New Zealand for the past 6 years, he knows first hand how important it is to be prepared when heading into the great outdoors. Matt is an avid adventurer and traveller, spending the past 10 years exploring and fishing all around the world. His passion for the outdoors is the driving force behind everything he does, and he believes the outdoor industry can be better served by thoughtful and innovative products for all the adventurers out there.
