Story

The Klydos library is just getting started, but we already have enough content to satisfy a near-insatiable hunger for new art.

The Klydoclock team is made up of high-tech entrepreneurs, product designers, and manufacturers. This is us—David, Ran, and Boaz.

The Klydoclock story starts with a clock—yes, a big surprise.

It was just a regular Monday when our co-founder saw the light reflections dancing off of his living room clock. The designs just kept changing, making him think how nice it would be to have a clock with a dynamic face design.

This epiphany led to more daydreaming and thinking, and it all led to creating a versatile clock that would house a high-resolution screen within its body.

This wasn’t an easy task. We had to figure out a way to design an app-free clock that would still connect to the internet to download new Klydos every day.  Another challenge we had to overcome was to make two circular display areas using one rectangular display and not have any awkward design elements.

We got through that with a whole lot of modeling and 3d printing. Here’s a look behind the scenes:

And now, after months of research and testing various materials, we created our final design.

And now we can’t wait to see where you choose to display Klydoclock in your space.

We are proud to partner with Indiegogo so we can build our community and deliver this analog clock for the digital age to those who appreciate time-reading and digital art. The revenue we generate here makes it possible for us to continue developing products without seeking outside funding. This allows us to focus on doing what we love: designing and bringing our visions to life, supported by an incredible community of like-minded individuals that appreciate our philosophy.

Risks and challenges

Producing a hardware product is never easy.

Our previous experience in manufacturing makes us better prepared for the unforeseen challenges we may encounter during the tooling, manufacturing, testing, certification, and fulfillment process. We’ve partnered with some of the best teams to ensure our timeline goes smoothly.

You’ll notice that Klydoclock doesn’t have a ton of bells and whistles that could have been included in a clock. There’s no app, alarm functionality, or speaker system. Just a digital LED screen, a subtle speaker so the hourly chime can sound, a knob, and a beautiful hardwood casing. The simplicity of Klydoclock reduces the risks and steps in our manufacturing processes. In fact, our manufacturing partner gave us the green light to offer shipping by Christmas 2023 for a select number of backers who signed up during our pre-campaign.

Despite the familiarity with our supply partners, there is still risk in successfully tooling, assembling, and producing a product like this one.

Our target shipping dates are by the end of December, January, and February depending on which level you back. We would love to ship earlier and we will do everything we can to make this happen.

Keep in mind that we are committed to making the best products we possibly can and quality will always be prioritized over schedule. We promise to keep our backers informed well in advance of any delays.
