Who am I? 

My name is Amanda Shaffer,  I’m a Salon Owner with a passion and experience in Stylist education.  I’ve been a HairStylist for 20 years, and an owner for 9.  Along the way, I’ve discovered two main issues when it comes to the hair industry: 

• There is no easy way to accelerate training in a typical Salon environment 
• There is ‘licensing’, but no ‘quality standards’– making it difficult for Clients and Stylists to be on the same page with expectations. 

Many people have gone through our training program Each time we learn more about the process and how to distill the information.  We’ve discovered a step-by-step system to help people get to their goals through coursework, hands-on training, and live coaching.  To take this training to the next level, we are now building a Salon that will be a premium training location for Stylists across the country.  

What We Need & What You Get

Here’s the details of what we are seeking: 

• We are seeking $175,000 to complete the buildout and the first two months of operating expenses (almost 3/4 of the way finished with the buildout already!)
• Contributors will receive active updates and opportunity for feedback on the project 
• Any contribution under $1,000 will receive product and accessory packages proportionate to their gift (think of it as prepaying for products you buy anyways, or can be used for Christmas gifts!) 
• Any gift over $1,000 will receive a payback with 8% interest, over 7 years time.  

The Impact

• We believe this will impact our entire industry, giving Stylists and Clients a common ground of communication for skill levels. 
• We created a ‘baseline’ skill level that is required to avoid major mistakes on Clients- giving them more peace of mind when it’s time to seek out a Stylist for their hair goals.  We will keep a database of certified Stylists for consumers to view.  
• Each level of mastery will bring growth to Stylists, and make a difference financially for them.  
• We will be able to take stress off of Salon Owners, and take the burden of training 
• We will encourage Stylists in all experience levels to perfect their craft and stay in a posture of learning throughout their career.  

Risks & Challenges

The obstacles we currently face are the steady draining of cash via rent on an empty building and buildout costs that were greater than expected.  We also lost valuable time due to my personal cancer crisis.  

• I’m qualified to overcome this current challenge, because I don’t give up!  
• I plan to solve these challenges by finding people who believe in education as much as I do, and working together to get to the finish line.
