Hello Bloo Crew!
Y’all, I am beyond excited to be working on my debut full length album. Since I was a kid, I had always wanted to write and perform my own original music. Over the pandemic, I started on this journey by writing and releasing my debut EP AQUA, and have been making music ever since. I’ve discovered that the dreams that I thought were impossible for me are within my reach through my drag and my music. I also am encouraged now, more than ever, with the ongoing attacks on the LGBTQ community to be unapologetically queer and raise my voice! Drag and music have changed my life and I want to share it with the world!
I am now working on one of the most exciting endeavors in my career so far. I am exploring an underwater world through pop music. I am working on a 10-track studio album featuring 9 new original songs and a cover of an iconic song. This is the first time I will be making music in both English and Spanish. I have teamed up with an incredible group of writers and producers in LA to take my music to the next level! This is some of the most exciting music I’ve ever written, exploring a different side of Lagoona. It’s focused on self love and feeling good with the beat to back it up! I’d love to invite you with me on this journey into the Bloo and help make this incredible dream come to life.
What We Need
Putting out a full length album is very expensive which is why its so challenging for independent artists like myself to do it. Creating the music requires studio time, production, mixing, and mastering. Then with the music complete, there is album art, distribution, publicity, marketing, music videos, and album visuals. This can run into the tens of thousands. Here’s more details on who is helping create the music and the things we need to get the music out to y’all to listen to:
PRODUCING TEAM: For this album, I’m working with the Killingsworth Production Company. Tomas Costanza is a certified-platinum record producer/songwriter and owner of the Killingsworth Recording Company. Tomas has co-written and produced twelve Billboard #1 albums. Songwriters Ash Gordon and beat master Paul Coudrup round out our incredible producing team. Musician Jarina De Marco is assisting on songwriting and translating for the Spanish tracks.
MIXING & MASTERING: Dave McNair is a world-class mastering technician who has worked with David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, The Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Cyndi Lauper and more.
DISTRIBUTION; I’ll be using Tunecore to distribute to online stores and streaming services. I’ll also be creating and printing CDs and vinyls. Creating physical music products is expensive and funding will be needed to create them.
PUBLICITY/MARKETING: I’m going to be hiring a publicist to promote the album. I’ll be doing a social marketing campaign as well and will need to hire a graphic designer and video editor to create the assets for this.
MUSIC VIDEOS/VISUAL CONTENT: Marketing music these days means you need visual content for social media. Also music videos are extremely helpful for promotion and I would like to do full length music videos for at least two of the songs. The budget for videos start at $5,000 and go up from there, requiring a production team (director, cinematographer, lighting technician, camera operator, gaffer, grip, etc), choreographer, dancers, costumes, props, sets, space rental, and more.
The Impact
Putting out a full length studio album is a huge endeavor for an independent artist to do. I’m not signed to a label. And don’t have a huge platform to help get my music out to the world. But I know that my purpose in life is to make music that makes people happy, that inspires people to love themselves, and help them know that they are the motherfucking one!
I want to show the world that drag artists can create mainstream pop music, with great songwriting and vocals. And maybe be the first drag artist to win a Grammy! This album is the next step for me in this journey, and with your help, we can achieve anything!
My experience with launching my debut EP AQUA in 2021 and music videos for “Hands” and “Bloo Christmas” has prepared me for taking on this big challenge. I learned a lot of what to do and what not to do on those projects, and the team I have assembled of queer artists and specialists is experienced and ready to get started and make this music happen for you!
Risks & Challenges
Simply put, the more money I raise, the better this project will be in getting this music out to as many people as possible. I don’t usually ask for help like this but I keep hearing from people who ask if there are ways that they can do to help with my music. So I’ve assembled a number of rewards to thank you for supporting me and my music journey. I couldn’t do it without you!
