Building the Digital Black Wall Street

Story

Short Summary

Hi, I’m Lou, a tech innovator and advocate for economic empowerment in the Black community. My journey began in 1982 when, as a 12-year-old, I learned to code on a Commodore Vic-20. This early experience sparked a lifelong passion for technology and innovation, despite numerous challenges and systemic barriers. Today, I’m launching a groundbreaking app designed to bridge the digital divide and foster economic independence for Black Americans. Your support will help us create a future where our community thrives through connectivity and collective economic power.

What We Need & What You Get

To bring this vision to life, we need to raise $60,000. Here’s how the funds will be used:

  • App Development: $30,000 for hiring developers, designers, and purchasing necessary software.
  • Infrastructure: $20,000 for servers, hosting, and security measures to ensure a robust and safe platform.
  • Marketing & Outreach: $10,000 to spread the word and engage our community effectively.

We’re excited to offer unique perks to our contributors:

  • Early Access: Be among the first to use the app and provide feedback. Any donation over $50 receives 5 years of premium level membership services (A $100 Value).
  • Exclusive Merchandise: Receive a branded, exclusive BASS app T-Shirt to show your support. Your $125 donation also includes a personalized, laser-etched, scanable business card we’re calling the ‘BASSCard’ plus our 5 year premium membership service.
  • Community Recognition: Get featured on our app as a founding supporter. A $500 donation receives the previous two perks and Founder advertising for 1 year on our platform.

If we don’t reach our full goal, every penny raised will still go towards app development and community engagement. Our mission will continue, no matter what.

The Impact

Your contribution will make a significant difference:

  1. Empowerment: Our app will enable Black Americans to practice economic defense and offense, keeping our dollars circulating within our community.
  2. Connectivity: It will create a network for Black-owned businesses, consumers, and vendors to support each other.
  3. Innovation: By utilizing decentralized protocols, we’ll ensure our community can communicate and organize without censorship.

I’ve spent decades pioneering technologies and advocating for equity. This app is a culmination of my expertise and dedication to uplifting our community. Together, we can transform economic disenfranchisement into economic empowerment.

Risks & Challenges

Transparency is key. Here are the challenges we might face:

  • Technical Hurdles: Developing a secure and scalable app is complex, but my extensive background in tech equips me to tackle these issues.
  • Funding Shortfalls: We may not reach our full financial goal, but we have contingency plans to prioritize core functionalities and scale gradually.
  • Adoption: Encouraging widespread use of the app requires effective outreach and education, which we’re prepared to undertake with your support.
