Magnus has a little bit of that magic inside. There are dozens of magnets hidden in the cushions that make building amazing structures easier, more fun and a lot more magical!

Our magnets are strong enough to build super stable creations, but still allow your kids to easily pull them apart!

Magnus can do things no other couch can. Magnets help your kids make sturdier constructions and the coolest creations. The possibilities are endless!

Children can intuitively build whatever they want without really needing the help of adults. The most surprising thing for us has been the variety of ideas and how fast kids start building them, trying them out, iterating and starting all over when they get a new idea.

We designed a clever system to make sure the cushions always have a strong connection with each other. The magnets are able to rotate inside their little pocket, so it doesn’t matter which way they are oriented, they ✨AUTOMAGICALLY✨ align at the last second to always attach to the one nearby!

Once the playing is done, Magnus can quickly go back to being a couch, an armchair, ottoman, daybed, or whatever looks best in your home. It looks so good, your visitors won’t even realize it’s actually a toy!

We designed Magnus to be super fun for your kids, but also beautiful to make your home look nice. Our color palette is subtle and modern, and looks great in any room!

And the best part is, the rest of your furniture stays intact!

Kid-tested and Parent approved!    

We selected a sturdy, long lasting foam that is great for providing stability when building structures, but light enough for kids to carry around.

Easy to clean    

The cushion covers are made of a comfortable fabric that is also very durable. The fabric is easy to clean but just in case, the covers are removable and machine washable!

But most importantly. It’s safe. 

The magnets are held in place by a super secure, sewn in double-layer pocket to keep them completely out of reach. The magnets are able to rotate inside this pocket but they are not going anywhere!

The magnets are separate from the cover fabric, so you don’t have to worry about them going into your washing machine.

You can have peace of mind knowing your kids are safe while having the best time.

The final shipping prices will be defined at that moment. This is because the rates tend to change a lot over time and there are still some variables that are yet to be defined. However, since many of you have been asking about this we decided to give you the best estimate we can for now.

Depending on the final number of orders we receive from each country, we will find the most efficient ways to deliver them. For now, the plan is to use 3 shipping hubs. One for EU, one for USA, and one for Asia. If we get so many orders in other specific countries it might make sense to add more hubs.

The Story 

A few months before the pandemic started, I went to stay with my sister and nephew for a couple of weeks to give them a hand. My job was to keep my nephew and his friends entertained for a few hours while their parents worked. That was not a problem at all as those kids consider me one of their own. We played for hours and had a blast!

But oh man did we make a mess in that house! My sister was not amused about that. And once the pandemic started, I kept thinking about how hard these times must be for parents with everybody stuck at home all day.

I have always had a strong opinion that there is no better way to play than building things with your hands. So I set out to create the best toy ever. Something that would keep kids entertained and active for hours, but that wouldn’t require destroying the whole house. I began brainstorming with my wife Mar, who happens to be the most creative person I know, plus, a sewing expert. And that is how it all started.

Design process

We had seen those cool convertible couches, but something was lacking. They didn’t have enough shapes and were too soft and wiggly to really build cool stuff. And that is when it hit us. Building blocks! They have so many shapes that you can build anything with them, and the magnetic ones really take things to the next level. Just make them kid-size and there you have it: the PERFECT toy!  

We built the first rough version in an afternoon and tried it out with my nephew. He loved it so much, her mom wouldn’t let us take it away! That’s when we knew we had something special.

Every time we had a new idea, we quickly prototyped it and just gave it to kids to see what they did with it. We built over 60 prototypes using different foams, magnet strength, size, weight and fabrics. Turns out, feedback from kids is super honest and easy to read, when they love something they play with it for hours! We just observed and let them decide!

It took us about eight months of tests and prototypes to come up with the best  design possible. But we finally got it!

Our experience

My Wife Mar is a fashion designer, and we live in Puebla, one of the largest textile manufacturing hubs in the world. We partnered with a company that has 8+ years experience in manufacturing and international logistics. They work with trusted and experienced suppliers that have high quality standards and meet the required safety certifications. We have a large network of proven suppliers that will allow us to spread the workload depending on the number of orders we receive. Regarding shipping, we are also partnering with professional, highly experienced logistic companies in America, Europe and Asia to offer the best possible shipping experience to all backers no matter where they are. We are prepared for this to be a huge campaign with thousands of backers. However if this happens we might need to make some adjustments to our plans and timeline. This should be minor because as mentioned, we will not rely on one single supplier and we are already getting ready for Magnus to have great success. We also know sometimes unexpected setbacks can happen no matter how prepared we are. For this reason we have stretched our timeline a bit longer than our estimations, to have some wiggle room in case we need more time. I’m committed to maintaining a constant, direct communication with all my supporters to keep everyone informed on every step of the development and manufacturing process.
