As fans of Pomodoro Technique, we always found ourselves dissatisfied with the available timekeeping tools, like countdowns on the phone or smartwatch that are interrupted by notifications and app alerts or a screen that shuts off mid-use. Stand-alone timers are annoying, requiring you to carry them with you everywhere you go.

Located on the case’s back is a minimalistic Pomodoro timer that begins its countdown at the touch of a button. Once you turn your phone over, all distractions are gone.

FoCase utilizes a dual input method featuring piezoelectric sensor and MEMS microphones. The MEMS microphones, used in mobile phones and earphones, record the voice of the person holding the phone, converting it into an electrical signal that is stored by the controller.

The sound from your phone’s headset causes vibrations signaling the piezoelectric sensor inside the recording device to generate electrical signals that are picked up and stored by the controller. Advanced algorithms combine the two signals, creating a complete recording file with both the speakers and the additional voice.

*It’s important to note that when the external headset is used, it prevents the phone handset from vibrating, which stops the piezoelectric sensor from picking up the sound through vibration, preventing recording.
