STORY

     Motivation is a crime action comedy that tells the story of Richard Callahan, a struggling actor living in LA with only one decent credit to his name (an episode of Law & Order). After recently being let go by his agent, Richard packs up and heads to his Midwest hometown, the Quad Cities, to visit family and friends. While recharging his mental batteries for a big return to LA, we see his hometown has been taken by storm through a gang of meth dealers, the Wheeler Brothers.

     The Wheeler Brothers are responsible for all the meth brought into the city and for a series of brutal murders in the area. Once home, Richard meets with his best friend and police officer, Jimmy Stark. We immediately see Jimmy’s frustrations with the police department and the new generation of officers. They complain about working long hours, they are way too lenient, they don’t show up for work, and most frustrating, they refuse to go undercover to infiltrate the Wheeler gang.  

     After a long night of drinking and bellyaching over their frustrations, Jimmy is hit with a brilliant idea. Why not have Richard, a professional Los Angeles actor, go undercover to infiltrate the Wheeler gang and get them to confess on tape. Upon hearing this idea, Richard is ecstatic. He is hungry for the ultimate acting experience where the stakes could be life and death. He jumps at this once in a lifetime opportunity, and the chance to help his best friend out. Once Richard is undercover and brushing elbows with the Wheeler gang, the fun kicks into high gear!! 

COMEDY

     Motivation will be in the spirit and style of 80s action comedies such as Beverly Hills Cop, 48 Hours, and Die Hard. Just like in those films, Richard and Jimmy are like minded guys that want nothing more than to do the right thing and get the bad guys. Much of the comedy will come out of whether Richard will be able to pull off going undercover against some of the most dangerous criminals in the city or not, and Jimmy praying to God that his best friend does not get killed in the process. It will be situational comedy at its best! We will show Richard coming up with the character to fool the drug dealers, Jimmy waiting in the undercover van on pins and needles, and Jimmy listening to see if Richard is able to get a confession on tape. The big question is… will Richard be able to pull it off?!

ACTION

     Just like in those great 80s movies, there’s going to be some serious action!! In the second half of the film Richard has to go on the run with Eva, a girlfriend of one of the drug dealers. She has been looking for a way to get out of the drug life and it appears Richard is her ticket out. While all of this is Taking Place Jimmy is trying to track down Richard and Eva. During this part of the film, there will be down and dirty bar fights and old-school shootouts with shotguns and pistols. The kind of shootouts where the audience will be thrown right in the middle, and feel like they are a part of the action with the characters.

GOAL

Our goal is to raise $81,000 to get this film off the ground. The money will go towards:

– Cast & Crew
– Equipment
– Food/lodging for cast & crew
– Post-production (sound, editing, color correction, etc)
– Film Festival entrance fees

We will do whatever we have to to make sure this film is seen! Our goal is to make a fun, exciting movie that will take audiences on a roller coaster ride. And have it get the best possible distribution deals in order for it to be seen by a wide audience.
