I conceived of the Wishmaker more than 30 years ago by addressing the dirty little secret that we all keep. Blowing out candles on a cake is GROSS! I was very sensitive to the design so as not to bring attention to that fact. Back then, no one wanted to admit the issue. So we turned a collective blind eye. I wanted to enhance the wishmaking experience. Make it more fun and enjoyable and quietly bring safety and efficacy to protecting family, friends and guests.
Well…everybody thought I was a little nuts. Then 15 years ago I created the new prototype through thorough engineering. And guess what? Everybody still thought I was nuts.
Soooo…flash forward to 2020. I’m not so nuts anymore.I am a father to two adult, and thankfully healthy, daughters. As a parent, I have always wanted to keep them safe. And to that extent, my drive has always been to keep as many family’s loved ones healthy and safe as well. I am extremely proud of the team that has helped me refine the Wishmaker to make it affordable, effective and fun.
I named it the Wishmaker and never moved away from that because I believe that the experience of using the Wishmaker would give a little psychological punctuation to the act of closing your eyes, making your wish, and blowing out your candles.

Risks and challenges
There are always risks involved in building a business and introducing a new product to the market. The good news is that I have vast experience building successful businesses. That being said, this is the first time I am launching a consumer product and selling directly. I have mitigated much of this by assembling a team of professionals across the spectrum (logistics coordinator, web design, social media organizations, handles on all topical social media platforms, etc..). One risk out of everyone’s control at the moment is the cost of raw materials and shipping. If they continue to soar it will be reflected in the cost of the item to the consumer which may impact the total potential purchasers. However, everyone in the world has a birthday from 1-100. So technically there is no specific audience that we would be losing out on. With 350 million people in the US alone, it is a very broad base to draw from.
We are seeking to raise $65,000 to finish production and market properly. I have personally spent more than $35,000 over the past years cresting the vision and prototype in addition to setting up a social marketing campaign.
