Our passion for lifehacks, DYI, the outdoors as much as the urban lifestyle gave us the idea to start drawing out a new type of hybrid multitool carabiner. The multifunctional spine allows for you to “hack” the carabiner and add your own custom parts or inspire us to create the exact utilities you need.

MASSIVE FUNCTIONALITY

The OCTO design has more than 18 features built-in. The unique spine design was developed to jam in even more possibilities –  we developed a special 3-in-1  bit holder for 5/32″ / 1/4″ and Leatherman’s special bits.

It’s 30% slimmer than regular bit holders to keep a sleek and seamless design.  The one-of-a-kind bit holder is hidden in a spine, created with hardened tool steel for maximum strength.

Flip around the bit holder you’ll have access to a glass breaker – made with ultra-hard C2 tungsten carbide to help you or others in an emergency.

4-in-1 Exchangeable Bit 

Inspired by the ninja star the bit looks rad, action-ready, and will give you the ability to fight the most ordinary screws that you find on your path. The spoke wrench is there because, well, because it can – it’s one of those tools that when you need it the most, it’s nowhere to be found. The boxcutter is integrated with a small cutting edge on the side of the flathead. With time we will make more functional bits for you.

Key hanger

Hang your keys effortlessly in the main body of the carabiner or hook them into the keyhole. With OCTO you’ll have tools with you anywhere you go, keeping your keys close by hooked into your belt or bag.

Bottle Opener & Pry Tool

If you like EDC and you’re DIY’er you can probably open a beer with a wet piece of cardboard – hell, we can, but still, the feeling of opening a bottle of beer with a well-crafted piece of metal with massive leverage just feels great. The opener doubles as a lever and with the integrated fork design, it grabs nails more easily.

OCTO Carabiner a Daily Travel Companion

Carabiners are useful – and OCTO is not different – it’s nice, functional and it looks great. Hang it from your belt strap with your keys for easy access or on your bag when you need to carry something extra or connect multiple objects.

Wire stripper

As DIY´er front teeth, nails random knives, and sharp objects come in handy when your meddling with wires in random places or when helping out friends that do not have the right tools at hand. Having a proper wire stripper is wonderful, to get the right cut without damaging the wire – now, you will never leave your house without it, and never end up with copper between your teeth, or even worse, a chipped tooth.

With 30-50% discounts we are not able to carry the Shipping costs as well, unfortunately, but we will do what we can to keep them at a minimum.

Due to the global logistics environment, we will not charge shipping during the campaign. After the campaign is finalized we will know better from which warehouses to ship and the prices we can get.

We expect about 5$ US / 7$ worldwide fee for the base item and 1-2$ pr for each Carabiner add-on globally. As we get ready for fulfillment we will let you in on all our prices. If any huge changes, we will let you know, and hopefully we can find a good solution. We expect to bulk ship orders to the USA and ship locally. All other orders ship from China. (Maybe EU, TBD). We are not liable for any local duty or taxes.

Timeline

R&D and Production

The intricate design with many edges, cavities, and parts, makes it a hard nut to crack in CNC and each item needs to be carefully watched as several drills are needed during the process.

The testing process has been extensive and a lot of designs tested to find the best weight-to-feature combination. A carabiner isn’t really a great shape to start making into a multitool. It doesn’t have a solid core like a folding tool where it’s possible to have multiple flat items next to each other, and it does not have the flat surface area of a credit card tool. The slim rounded shape that is made for hanging climbing rope, makes jamming features into it difficult. We think that we are now on the right track to evolve the carabiner into a new and awesome EDC tool, that not only is functional – but also underplayed handsome. Even if you are not an EDC freak – you’ll still enjoy it.

After scouring the internet for production partners with the experience needed we landed with LKK, and they jumped at the task right away.

Risks and challenges

By choosing a world-renowned manufacturing partner we have mitigated much risk involved when creating new products. We have worked with them in the past 6 months to find the best production method, to make sure we are able to ramp up production. The most pressing challenges could be material shortages, an increase in material price, labor shortages, which are out of our hands – or problems with logistics, which we mitigate by working with CN and US-based forwarders.

Through our partner, we only work with factories with strict international standards.

Long-lasting design

Indestructible – pass it on to your grandchildren, and tell them, your old man here was an early adopter – and this carabiner was what caught the eye of grandma’ when queuing up for at 9th booster shoot, sparked a conversation, and…. the rest is history.
