At Orbitkey, we make clever accessories to organize your everyday essentials.

We’ve been around since 2013, launching seven crowdfunding campaigns with the help of over 48,000 backers, raising more than US$3.45 million, and that’s all thanks to you.

Honestly, we think crowdfunding is awesome. It’s because of you we’ve been able to bring Orbitkey to life and focus on creating products we’re proud of, without having to answer to external investors.

As a global collective of creators, we are united by a common goal – solving everyday problems and simplifying your lives. While our headquarters is based in Melbourne, our team is spread across the globe, including Sydney, Queenstown, Jakarta, Cebu, Shenzhen, and Madrid.

We’ve worked hard on this new project over the past year and we’re excited for you to be a part of it.

We’re also doing our bit for the planet. Since 2019, we’ve been a Climate Neutral Certified Brand. That means we’re measuring and reducing our carbon footprint, and offsetting what we can’t reduce. Our carbon credits are going towards projects like forest conservation and renewable energy.

Risks and challenges

We’ve successfully completed seven campaigns, delivering nearly 49,000 rewards. Those experiences have been invaluable, guiding us through every step of product creation, crowdfunding and fulfilling rewards.

It has better prepared us for the challenges associated with tooling, production, logistics, communication, and delivering a high-quality product.

The 2-in-1 Tech Pouch, Desk Pouch, and Pencil Case design are finalised and extensively tested. Our manufacturing partners are ready to kick off production into high gear.

Environmental Commitments

Long-lasting design

We’ve made a commitment that everything we do and build needs to add value and help our community live better lives. If they don’t, we should rethink why we’re doing it, and work out a better approach. Our products are designed with the best materials – tested thoroughly to withstand heavy use. We love that we’re still seeing plenty of backers from our first Kickstarter campaign in 2013 still using the rewards they received then.

 

Reusability and recyclability
Our products are built to last. However, should you encounter any problems with any of the parts, you can let us know and we’ll be able to send you a specific replacement part.

 

Sustainable materials

The fabric used in the 2-in-1 Tech Pouch, Desk Pouch, and Pencil Case is made of 600D 100% Recycled Polyester. We pride ourselves on using no plastic in our packaging and ensuring that any paper material can be recycled.

 

Environmentally friendly factories

We hold our suppliers accountable to meet our sustainability requirements. Prioritising to work with suppliers who have agreed to our Supplier Code of Conduct – currently 98.84% of our suppliers.

We’re proud that many of the suppliers that we have worked with since the beginning have joined us on our sustainability journey.

One of the main requirements outlined is for our suppliers to have regular Compliance audits by reputable auditors such as SMETA and BSCI.

As of 2024, 80.41% of our manufacturing expenditures are allocated to suppliers who hold active Social Compliance certifications and we are working on increasing the number to 90% by 2025.

 

Sustainable Distribution

One of our biggest emissions contribution is the way we transport our products to our customers. We’re proud that we’ve achieved a reduction of 13.7% Tonne Mile Percentage between 2021 and 2022 as we prioritise land and sea shipments over air.

Today, we continue to transition our packaging (even old ones) to using FSC-certified materials. Also, we are transitioning our packaging containing matte lamination to using Water-based coating so that it can easily be recycled.
