Can’t clip a retractor to your outfit or prefer not to? Opt for the detachable lanyard so you can wear your Retractable Card Holder around your neck instead. The comfortable woven lanyard also has a breakaway release for added safety and convenience.

Since 2013, we’ve launched 5 crowdfunding campaigns, with over 42,530 backers, raising over US$2.92 million.

Here at Orbitkey, we’ve been taking scalable steps to permanently reduce our carbon emissions, and in April 2020, we became a Climate Neutral Certified Brand!

Climate Neutral is an independent non-profit organisation that provides tools for companies to:

Measure their carbon footprint through economic modeling;

Reduce​ their emissions by developing and implementing carbon reduction plans;

Offset​ their emissions if they cannot be immediately reduced by purchasing carbon credits; and

Use the label to empower customers to choose brands that choose to pay for their carbon emissions.

Carbon credits are in turn invested into reducing and capturing carbon dioxide, and can support a range of projects such as forest conservation and renewable energy.

This year, we will ensure that at least 50% of our new products will be made from LWG certified leather and recycled fabric materials. Likewise, 80% of our packaging will be produced from recyclable materials. We will also reduce our air freight shipments company-wide by 40%, and at our headquarters in Melbourne, we will reduce our paper and toner emissions by 60%. But we know that this is only the beginning, and we will continue to improve our processes and further reduce our emissions every year.

 

Risks and challenges

We have a pretty good track record with our previous 5 campaigns – with most rewards being shipped on time or with a 1-month delay at most. Our previous campaigns have also given us valuable experience in all aspects of bringing a product to life and running a crowdfunding campaign.

It has better prepared us in the challenges associated with tooling, production, logistics, communication, and delivering a high-quality product.

However, there are always challenges and unforeseen obstacles that arise when trying to bring a product to life.

In the case of encountering unavoidable obstacles, we have always handled them swiftly and efficiently, and have always conducted things in the best interest of our backers and Orbitkey family. We always keep our backers updated with complete transparency.

Environmental commitments

Long-lasting design

We’ve made a commitment that everything we do and build needs to add value and help our community live better lives. If they don’t, we should rethink why we’re doing it, and work out a better approach. Our products are designed with the best materials and built to last – tested thoroughly to withstand heavy use. We love that we’re still seeing plenty of backers from our first Indiegogo campaign in 2013 still using the rewards they received then.

 

Reusability and recyclability

Our products are designed to last. However, should you encounter any problems with any of the parts, you can let us know and we’ll be able to send you a specific replacement part.

 

Sustainable materials

The leather that will be used in the production of the ID Card holder System is LWG-certified gold-rated leather. It means that the leather is produced in a sustainable way with a focus on minimising environmental impact. The lanyard is also made of 100% recycled woven polyester thread. We pride ourselves in using no plastic in our packaging and ensuring that any paper material can be recycled.

 

Environmentally friendly factories

All our factories have been carefully selected and are partners we’ve been working with for several years. We have team members on the ground who visit the factories on a regular basis to ensure that quality, ethical and environmental standards are upheld.

 

Sustainable Distribution

We plan to optimise our shipping routes by utilising sea freight to transport bulk quantities to local warehouses to reduce the carbon footprint of our delivery plan.
