Help us launch 3 AI-powered micro-clinics to scale MGH healthcare delivery model in rural Ghana
Felix Davis ’26 Develops Microclinics for Rural Ghana
Hello,
We need your help to scale our AI-powered microclinics on time. Several thousand people in Ghana—specifically in Krachi Nchumuru, Lolobi, and Akatsi (the locations we are scaling to)—need to speak with a medical doctor. Many of them require life-saving healthcare.
Our pilot last year has already helped thousands of patients. We have the opportunity to build scalable tech to provide primary care and access to digital pathology to help more patients. And we need your help to expand our efforts. With your support, we will build three fully operational microclinics and at least 20 primary care stations in areas where people have little to no access to medical care. By contributing to our campaign, you will help bring cutting-edge healthcare solutions to those who need them most.
Ways to Support & the Difference You’ll Make
To achieve this vision, our goal is to raise at least $170,000, but we can reach this target incrementally. For instance, building one of our primary care stations costs just $900, so every donation—no matter the size—truly makes a difference.. Here’s how your contribution will help:
- Infrastructure: we’ll construct three microclinics using modular steel structures, equipped with power supply and internet connectivity.
- Medical Equipment: from portable ultrasound machines to diagnostic kits, we’ll outfit these clinics with essential tools and medical supplies.
- Staffing: our microclinics will be staffed by local 3 nurses and 4 remote doctors, supported by our AI diagnostic software to ensure quick and accurate care.
- AI: complete the integration of four AI agents (for symptom assessment, medical imaging, breast cancer detection, and medical education) into our current software to provide accurate diagnostics, even in the most remote locations.
- Primary Care Station: setup portals for patients who may only need a doctor’s medical advise opinion to do so.
As a thank you, contributors will receive:
- Exclusive Updates: be the first to hear about the progress of the microclinics.
- Acknowledgment: we will honor our top contributors by naming primary care stations and microclinics in their honor.
- Invitations to Virtual Tours: see, firsthand, the impact you’ve made once the microclinics are launched.
Impact
We do believe that access to healthcare shouldn’t be a luxury. In Ghana, where 44% of the population lives in rural areas, many people must travel long distances just to see a doctor. By supporting Mary Global Health, you’re directly tackling this issue. The success of our approach to healthcare delivery could serve as a model for transforming healthcare access not just in Ghana, but in rural communities everywhere.
Risks & Challenges
This is an ambitious project, and we want to be transparent about the challenges we might face.
- Regulatory Approvals: navigating healthcare regulations in Ghana can be complex, but we’ve already made significant progress and have strong local partnerships to ensure a smooth process.
- Supply Chain Delays: procuring medical equipment may face delays, but we’ve secured reliable suppliers and built in contingency plans to stay on track.
- Scaling AI Technology: implementing AI in rural settings poses significant technological challenges. However, we are collaborating closely with experts from Dartmouth and other global partners to ensure our products are both robust and field-ready. Also, we are encouraging academic researchers to explore and conduct further studies in these underserved areas.
At this time, have a dedicated team of medical professionals, software engineers, and field workers who are committed to overcoming these challenges.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you’re unable to contribute financially, there are still many ways you can support our efforts:
-
Donate or Purchase Medical Equipment/Supplies: You can help by donating or purchasing essential medical equipment and supplies for our microclinics. Items like diagnostic kits, ultrasound machines, and other medical tools will go a long way in providing life-saving care to underserved communities. Here’s a complete list of medical equipment and supplies.
-
Spread the Word: Share our campaign with your network to help us connect with organizations and individuals who are eager to support initiatives like ours.
-
Join Our Team: we are seeking medical doctors, both active and retired, who are willing to volunteer their time to consult with patients remotely through our software. We welcome retired biomedical data scientists, bioinformaticians, and clinical research scientists who can volunteer to help us develop algorithms for detecting disease markers. Additionally, retired or active healthcare lawyers who are willing to volunteer their expertise to guide us through the regulatory considerations of cross-border medical practice. Finally, we are eager to collaborate with volunteer programmers to enhance our software products.
- Follow Our Journey: sign up for updates on our campaign and the impact we’re making in Ghana and beyond.
Thank you for your contribution.
