We are Po-Zu and we make sustainable ethical footwear. POZ is our greatest sneaker yet. Why? Because it is made from Cactus and Sugarcane, two renewable resources, grown organically in abundance, and processed without chemicals and nasties, no fossil fuels required. Our sneakers are plant based, 100% vegan and 100% solvent free. 

 

 

Cactus leather represents a phenomenal breakthrough for the fashion industry. Until now, alternatives to leather contained large amounts of plastic, to make them durable and increase their strength and wearability. To make them behave more like real leather. Cactus leather is a cruelty-free sustainable alternative, without any toxic chemicals, phthalates or PVC and contains only a small amount of recycled plastic within its formula.  

 

 

Our sole is made from an innovative bio based EVA resin, derived from Sugarcane, a fully renewable resource that grows quickly, and removes CO2 from the air, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and naturally cleansing our environment. Along with these attractive sustainability credentials, a key characteristic of bio-EVA is it’s lightness, and the ability to be flexible and resistant.

 

 

Until now, athletic shoes have been made using petroleum based EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) which will eventually end up in landfill, and can take up to 1,000 years to decompose. This bio-based EVA is a significant advance for the industry, and the world’s first carbon negative EVA polymer.

We have been making sustainable footwear for 14 years. When we started out we were pioneering, learning from the ground up. Well, we are still learning and advancing because sustainability is an on-going journey. We have proven that it is possible to make great shoes, that are stylish and comfortable, while showing love for our planet and its people.

While the threat of climate change marches on, we cannot continue to do things the way they’ve always been done. As renewable materials evolve, and techniques and processes improve, we can look to the natural world, and choose plant based options over fossil fuelled ones, and reduce our carbon footprint, reduce water waste, pollution and the use of toxic chemicals and pesticides. We can make everything better, every step of the way.

 

Exceptional Performance From The Natural World

Natural Insoles – Our insoles are made from Natural Latex and Cork, truly natural and renewable resources, that are low impact. Cork has excellent insulation and shock absorbing properties and is grown locally to our factory in Portugal.

Cotton Laces – Our laces are made from GOTS certified Organic Cotton that is hard wearing and low maintenance. Even the aglets are biodegradable and 100% vegan. Each pair of POZ sneakers comes with x2 pairs of laces, one plain, one printed.

Water-Based Adhesive – As a company we have a strict solvent-free policy and only work with water-based adhesives. Not only strong and hardwearing, they are sustainable and kind to the environment and the factory workers. To provide greater durability, the shoes are also stitched to the soles.

Ethical Manufacturing – Our POZ sneaker and boots are made in Portugal in a small family owned factory that we have worked with for many years. We only work with manufacturers that adhere to our Supplier Code of Practice, outlining the expectations for each supplier regarding labour and human rights, health and safety, environmental protection, ethics and management practices.  Our factory in Portugal is committed to ethical manufacturing, has a strict non-toxic policy, and recycles any waste products, including fabric off-cuts and water.

Eco Friendly Packaging – Our shoeboxes are made from FSC certified recycled material, and are fully recyclable.

We offer a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee on our footwear. Please note that the sneakers/boots have to be unworn and in an original state and the return shipping cost is paid by the customer. We do not offer returns on any other perks, only footwear.

You can request a refund from Indiegogo within 10 days of placing your order, while the campaign is still running. Eligible refund requests are handled directly by Indiegogo and can be requested through your confirmation email. During the campaign: please refer to Indiegogo’s policy HERE.
