Press Start Arcade is a locally owned arcade just outside Austin in Taylor, TX.

Located in Old Taylor High, owners Amy Ogrin & Brian O’Quinn took over the arcade in May 2023 after years of dreaming of starting their own small business. We transformed an existing pinball lounge into a space-themed 80’s-style arcade & successfully ran the business for over a year.

While we were able to host many fun nights within the 600 square foot space, when the opportunity to expand into the 5000 square foot cafeteria came up, we couldn’t pass it up.

Our business was ready for the next step & so were we.

We knew it was time to expand what Press Start Arcade could offer. We wanted to add redemption games & prizes, expand our entertainment offerings, & create a place where families, friends & couples could spend their evenings all in one place.

After months of planning & renovations, we moved Press Start Arcade into the Old Taylor High cafeteria – the first step on our transformation to Press Start Arcade Entertainment Lounge.

What We’re After & What You’ll Enjoy

After over a year of successfully running Press Start Arcade, we were fortunate enough to secure the funds needed for our initial move & expansion. We took advantage of liquidation auctions, did almost all of the renovations ourselves, & worked with generous locals to build out the rest.

But our vision of creating a true, high-quality entertainment lounge is still out of our reach. 

We want to be the place for entertainment in Taylor, TX. Where friends, families, & couples can spend their nights playing in the arcade, hosting parties, competing in eSports tournaments, singing karaoke, & listening to comedians & other artists. 

We are looking to secure contributions to help make our vision a reality. Not just for us, but for the communities & cities surrounding Taylor, TX.

Contributions will be used to further transform our existing lounge space, complete the build out of our party room, & give us the flexibility of adding highly requested arcade games – such as air hockey, Skee-ball, and more Stern pinball machines.

Every contribution fuels our vision for Press Start Arcade Entertainment Lounge. 

Obstacles to Success

There are very few locally-owned arcades & entertainment lounges in our area. Big corporations & name-brand franchises in nearby Austin often overshadow establishments such as ours.

These establishments are able to beat us on marketing campaigns and can offer the newest & most expansive arcade games that our out of our reach. But they cannot beat us on the passion that we put into making Press Start Arcade a quality, memorable experience.

Our biggest chance of success is on community support & awareness. We are already fortunate to have built a supportive community since we began Press Start Arcade, but we still have many in our own backyard that do not know we exist.

Part of the contributions received will be used for making new connections in own community & neighboring cities: Taylor, Hutto, Elgin, Thrall, Thorndale, Rockdale, Granger, and so many more.
