Backstory
In the near future, two years after winning a landslide victory to secure a second term in office, the US president attempted to change the constitution to enable herself to be elected for more terms. While receiving widespread support within her own country, many others objected, leading to political bickering that eventually led the world to move the focus of multi country collaboration to London.
A few years later the world would be changed forever after the International Moon Base Project (also known as The Ear) discovered a signal emanating from deep space. It would be five years before the code would be deciphered by a group of Oxford University students, who discovered that the message had been sent from a distant planet (Taradene): a planet that had been watching Earth from afar since 1961. Without the technology to travel here to make contact, the Taradeneans had been attempting to communicate with Earth for decades.
The discovery of an alien species would ultimately galvanise society, bringing the various countries and races together in a way never seen before in Earth’s history. Global politics began to shift towards a single centralised government, with each nation’s citizens electing their country’s representatives within the One World Government’s senate-like structure.
As the planets communicated, it became increasingly clear Taradene sought a peaceful alliance with Earth: a mutually beneficial relationship that would allow both planets to cooperate and learn from each other. After decades of research and development the two planets’ greatest scientists and engineers developed ships capable of interplanetary travel, with a titanic space station called The Bridge constructed between the two planets as a hub for those travelling between Earth and Taradene.
However, a smooth formation of an Earth/Taradene alliance would be jeopardised by the breakout of a world war in 2099 on Taradene known as the Dictator War, in which many millions of Taradeneans would die.
The end of the war in 2105 marked a momentous moment: the opening of the first UN office on Taradene (Taradene City). At the same time, the Taradeneans sent representatives to live on Earth and work with the Organisation. As the two species collaborated, Taradene, which for centuries had been ravaged by war and territorial squabbling, would increasingly adopt Earth’s political systems: negotiation before conflict, and the movement towards a One World Government. But not everyone supported this, leading to the formation of terrorist factions intent on maintaining national sovereignty both on Earth and on Taradene, as well as splinter states.
Taradene entered a period of comparative peace while their more advanced technology helped Earth to finally break the shackles of fossil fuel dependence, leading to a green revolution that would begin to undo the effects of climate change.
But when a new frontier is discovered, criminality is rarely far behind. With smuggling increasingly rife, large corporations saw an opportunity to expand their profits through nefarious practices, utilising the criminal underworld to do their dirty work. In response, the Interplanetary Investigation Organisation was formed, a joint Earth and Taradene taskforce specifically designed to investigate and thwart such interplanetary lawbreaking. Little did the organisation expect that what it would go on to uncover would be far more sinister and wider-reaching than anyone could ever have imagined…
Locations
Project UN is an open-world RPG set across three distinct environments.
Earth
The first is Earth, which will feature multiple locations such as the Isle of Eigg and Isle of Rùm (Hamish’s home), Coromandel (the Maori tribe and the assassin’s father’s home, as well as a restaurant in Pananui), Colchester, London, and Stonehenge.
Taradene (an Alien world)
The game also features Taradene, an alien planet that serves as a playable location for many missions. The planet boasts lush forests and vegetation, as well as harsh, mining-focused regions. Due to the planet’s stronger gravitational effect compared to Earth, Taradeneans are generally stronger than humans.
The Bridge
The Bridge is a space station located between Earth and Taradene in the game. Players travelling between the two planets will need to spend time acclimatising at The Bridge. The station includes several areas such as the Pleasure Dome, Prison, Offices and Apartments.
The SKC AI NPC Engine
This is a revolutionary technology developed by SKC Games Studio and its partners, learn more about SKC Partners on our website. Unlike other large language model AIs, it offers a unique and personalised experience for the player, enhancing the overall gameplay. The engine allows for natural dialogue between NPCs and the player, taking into account the context of the game, the player’s actions, and the NPC’s background and motivations.
The SKC AI NPC Engine is not dependent on any specific large language model provider, ensuring that the player’s experience remains consistent regardless of any changes in the industry. Early Access users can enjoy free-flowing conversations with two NPCs, while other NPCs will have personalized dialogue that is integrated into the game’s story narrative and historical context.
Players can expect a wholly immersive experience, with NPCs discussing the player’s interests, in-game experiences, and relationships with other characters. As the game progresses, the dialogue becomes increasingly rich and nuanced, providing players with a unique and unforgettable gaming experience.
The Bridge
In addition to the game, we will also be launching our own vision of a metaverse, which will be located on The Bridge. The Bridge will serve as a safe space where players can socialize with friends in a setting that is connected to various elements of the Project UN: Taradene story and locations.
At The Bridge, players will have the opportunity to relax in their own apartments, socialize with friends at the bar, play mini-games such as pool, darts, a tarot reading and even receive an
I Ching reading. As The Bridge continues to grow, it will be open to other game developers who can contribute games and experiences.
The Bridge is a safe and secure online social space, setting new standards in digital trust identity for online gaming.
While it is not part of the game and does not affect the game’s storyline, your apartment on The Bridge is accessible from within the game and serves as your home base for missions on The Bridge.
In addition to socializing with friends in the bar, playing mini-games like pool, darts, tarot readings or I Ching, you can also purchase exclusive digital clothing, housewares, and services using The Bridge’s currency.
The Bridge does not use NFTs or any other non-regulated financial system, and all transactions are logged on Microsoft Azure PlayFab against your account. This cross-platform technology means you can access your digital items from all your gaming devices, including Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and mobile.
The Bridge is not available in isolation but is accessible to anyone with an Early Access key for Project UN: Taradene.
Additionally, it is VR compatible, providing an immersive experience for players.
