Help establish the first locally owned fitness, wellness & community center in Kitsap County.

Story

Our Story

Five years ago, RAWW Athletics (“RAWW”) was established as a single-owned personal training business that specialized in fitness and athletic development. Over the years, the RAWW team has grown in number and expertise, and expanded on its mission to provide a vital resource in the Kitsap community. RAWW’s dedication is to improving the overall health of the Kitsap community through training, guidance, mentorship and educational opportunities.

Recently, RAWW opened the RAWW Athletics & Community Center (“RACC”) located in Port Orchard, Washington. The RACC is an 11,000 square foot facility that, when in final form, will provide the Kitsap community with a one-of-a-kind resource. The RAWW team, in partnership with Kitsap Physical Therapy (“KPT”) and other local professionals, intend to provide the Kitsap community with a much needed, full-service health and wellness center.

Location

The RACC is located at 1730 SE Mile Hill Drive, the east end of the Port Orchard Towne Square Mall. The RACC is centrally located in the city, in a high traffic area, and is conveniently 0.1 miles from the South Kitsap High School campus, which houses the largest student body in Washington state.

The Impact

Currently, Port Orchard and the greater Kitsap County is growing exponentially. Despite the growth, there are a variety of needs not being fulfilled. With deep, local roots and ties, the RAWW team has an affinity for the Kitsap community. The RAWW team’s vision for the the RACC is to create a hub that fosters positive impact through an array of services for the entire community not previously available in Port Orchard.  These services include, but are not limited to:

Fitness/Health –  a full-service, membership-based gym offering  a variety of programs and classes that range in specialties, for all experience levels and encompass multiple age groups. The RACC will have clinical resources in house featuring a KPT-satellite office, Dr. Brandon Lester’s chiropractic practice, and rotating massage therapy specialists. Unique to the Kitsap community, the RACC offers classes and programs focusing on mental wellness instructed by a breathwork and mindset professional. To round out the health spectrum, the RACC will have nutrition classes and programming that are catered to the individual.

Athletic Development – with a wide breadth of experience and knowledge across multiple sports, the RACC offers detailed, high-level sports specific training. For individuals, small group and full team training, the RACC’s athletic development is for all athletes from youth to collegiate and professional levels. The RACC also offers education opportunities and assistance in navigating the collegiate athletic journey to youth and high-school aged athletes.

Community Outreach – being started by locally rooted individuals, the RACC is committed to serving the Kitsap community. A strong emphasis is placed on youth mentorship and guidance, instilling kids with knowledge, opportunities, and connections that will serve them in life. Proactively supporting local community members in times of need, such as gathering basic necessities and school supplies donations, to serving up holiday meals.  Providing educational seminars and panel-style discussion opportunities, open to the community, that are highlighted by professionals that range in experience and expertise. Creating vocational opportunities and programs both through the RACC and through the RAWW team’s professional network. Supporting local businesses through creating partnerships, spreading awareness and holding fundraising events. The RAWW team also looks to be a catalyst for developing improved sports leagues in the community, both competitive and recreational, from youth to adult.

The Challenge

Bringing the final form of the RACC to life. Thus far, the RACC has been built through many hours of hard work from the RAWW team as well as incredible supporters that have volunteered time and efforts.

Like the adversity many businesses’ face, the RACC has encountered hurdles in building out the facility. One major setback was awaiting a full fire system install that took approximately 3 months, in which the RACC was unable to operate. Going forward, the RACC is expected to pay the 3 months of back-rent while it was not operational, as well as paying for the full fire system. These financial obligations have depleted the RACC’s bootstrapping and fundraising efforts, and is preventing the RAWW team from continuing the RACC build out.

The funds raised through this campaign will go towards supporting the RACC’s unexpected financial obligations as well as brining the RACC into its final form. Any contribution will ultimately aid in bringing the full vision of the RACC to life and help the RAWW team achieve the mission of making a lasting impact on our community.
