We are Harmattan Design (Holt & Radu), many of you know us for our Smart Belt series. With a track record spanning 6 years and 7 Campaigns with over 60 000 backers in crowdfunding overall, it’s safe to say we have done this before.

       This year, as before, we have improved  upon our innovative belt to make it even better. We’ve done it with your help and feedback and are grateful, sincerely and extremely grateful to the Kickstarter Community  for providing us with a home and a place of learning. This year, THE SMART BELT UNIVERSAL is renewed with wider textile straps for the many backers that specifically insisted that they must have wider and more casual looking straps on their Smart Belts. Well, here they are.

                We have unlocked a whole new level of comfort by replacing the 5 hole system with 32 adjustments. This system brings  a whole new dimension of adjustability. Not many people think about it or realize it but, our waist changes as we go about our business throughout the day. A classic belt does not adjust correctly because holes are too far apart.

               Forget feeling tight or loose, you’ll forget you have a belt on but your pants will stay exactly where they’re supposed to.

The Leather we use is the most exclusive leather anywhere in the world. Vegetable Tanning is almost a lost art. Because it takes longer to tan the leather with natural tannins it has been replaced by chromium tanning at the turn of the century. We get our leather from a small valley in Tuscany, Italy, one of the handful of places in the world where this is still done. It’s much more resilient that normal leather, it’s all natural, eco friendly and really smells good too. It will come with a certificate of authenticity and a serial number. 

   THE SMART BELT UNIVERSAL is made out of leather that is dyed structurally, inside, as opposed to painting the top layer. By doing this, we made sure that scratches can be reabsorbed inside the leather itself, a kind of self healing.

      Have you ever had a problem with a wrong size or buying a present for someone, ever been in between sizes? Not our Smart Belt Universal. You will get to make your own size, so no chance of getting it wrong. 

   Our Kevlar® Core built with Kevlar® fibres is our staple innovation. Belts wear out because the leather flexes longitudinally and loses structure. Our Kevlar® Core prevents that from happening by reinforcing the whole structure like nothing else. It makes the whole thing highly durable yet light and comfortable.  We are the only licensee authorized by DuPont to make belts using the Kevlar® brand.

THE CASUAL STRAPS

These straps are Polyester and are wider than our leather straps. They are 40 mm wide (1.6″) and have a more casual look. These straps do not have a Kevlar Core as we do not think it to be necessary as these Polyester straps are strong enough without it. 

       THE LEATHER STRAPS

        These straps are our regular Vegetable Tanned Italian Leather straps with a Kevlar Core. They are dyed through so the color will not fade and will last much much longer than anything else.  They will cover a max. waist size of 115 cm / 45″ (not pants size, actual measured waist size). This belt is amazing! Truly! No more holes that get destroyed by normal use, making it so easy to change between trousers ! And the micro adjustment from the ratchet system is genius.

My suggestions for mk4 are the following:-

A wider belt and buckle for jeans.

A complete woman’s range with colours and buckles tailored to the female of the species. My wife thinks this belt is brilliant but a bit manly (obviously lol)

“The belt is tightened by pulling it through the buckle and the ratchet tightens in small steps. To release the belt, pull the end that pokes out of the buckle whilst pushing the buckle release knob and push the belt back through the buckle. Once you’ve done it a couple of times it becomes second nature. When you get the belt, the leather part is long enough to fit the widest waist (within reason). Wrap the belt around you and cut to length so what the middle of the ratchet on the front end of the belt meets the cut end of the belt. Best to cut longer and then fit the buckle. You can always trim a bit more so that it eventually it is cut to your size. There is a small cream leaflet that comes with the belt and buckle that shows all this. That’s how I did it, and it’s the most comfortable belt I have ever owned.”

Part of our due diligence as a reputable company, in launching a new product, is the undertaking of an IP Audit. Such an audit, by a well known US IP specialised law practice, has deemed our Smart Belt UNIVERSAL to be free of any infringement on any  standing patent, domestic or foreign. Any claim to the contrary, in a public arena, in a purposeful attempt to disparage our efforts will be pursued for damages.

All footage, images and soundtracks presented within this campaign are our own manufacture or are licensed from their respective owners for the purpose and scope in which they are used. Testimonials of our product are voluntary and renders from actual backers from previous campaigns that have had extensive experience in using  the initial iteration of The Smart Belt UNIVERSAL . The testimonials are their own manufacture and are used with their specific and direct consent.

Warranty & Money Back Guarantee

The Smart Belt UNIVERSAL  has a limited warranty of 1 year from the receipt of the product. The warranty covers manufacturing defects, structural failure of the buckle or the strap. The Money Back Guarantee is valid 30 Days from receipt of the product and can be claimed only after the product is returned to us in a good working order and with no apparent marks, cuts or signs of wear.
