Joints Engineered To Hold Your Poses

Stickybones has been engineered to withstand anything your imagination throws its way. As animators, we understand the importance of having strong and precisely functioning joints to consistently hold our poses.  From the outset, creating a solution that enables our joints to endure wide ranges of motion and repeated use has remained at the heart of our Stickybones design and functionality.  

Because our joints have the great benefit and convenience of a pre-tensioned socket system, one of the physical characteristics we are carefully scrutinizing are qualities relating to the retention of surface volume for increased longevity and optimum joint performance, enabling Stickybones to maintain their stiffness and ability to hold your poses with repeated use.

Our primary objective is to make the most robust and highly functioning animation/artistic figure on the market while keeping the price accessible to everyone.  Currently, the best way we can accomplish this is by having high-grade steel molds precisely tooled that will be used to then injection mold our parts with the highest quality engineering grade polymers.  Through the combination of design for animation and poseability, world-class tooling, ultra-tight tolerance injection molding, and specially tuned materials, Stickybones is infused and methodically constructed to help you more rapidly animate and create the poses you really want to hit!

Where Are We in Production?

We’ve designed and built working prototypes—now the next step is to build the tooling and molds for manufacturing.  We’ve chosen and are working hand-in-hand with a US-based manufacturer specializing in precision tooling and tight-tolerance injection molding.  We’ve also chosen a US-based packaging company and are currently reviewing packaging options.

We’ve already saved tens of thousands of dollars during the past year and a half of development by designing with precision CAD based software(Autodesk Fusion 360) and fabricating our own animation-ready prototypes using a combination of 3D (SLA) printing, tooling, and injection molding processes.

Q: How do I pre-order a Stickybones of my very own?

Answer: You can pre-order Stickybones by claiming one of the exclusive perks we’ve offered above. The perks are listed on the right-hand side of the campaign page, starting at the top. To claim one of the perks, all you have to do is click on one you would like and go through the payment confirmation. You will get a confirmation email from Indiegogo. 

Q: What is the Indiegogo Limited Edition Color going to be?

Q: Will the final product be 3D-Printed?

Answer:  Nope. 3D printed materials currently lack the strength, durability, and a gamut of physical characteristics required for optimum joint performance and longevity. Q: SHIPPING: WHERE will you ship?

Answer: We plan to ship worldwide!  However, please note:  Every country has its own shipping regulations and rules.  Once the final Stickybones is manufactured and packaged, if your country, (for some reason) says we cannot ship it there, then you will be issued a full refund.

Q: I do not live in the United States…what are some international shipping cost considerations?

A: Some extra shipping cost considerations for International Backers will be customs/duty taxes.  (Some countries require a VAT.)   Please make sure you’re comfortable covering International shipping and the customs and duty taxes of your own country before contributing/pre-ordering, as some countries are notoriously high–which (of course) we have no control over.

Q: SHIPPING: How much will shipping cost?
Answer: We are working out final shipping costs right now.  We have backers from 90 countries!  Which is awesome! But as you can imagine, calculating shipping to all of them is quite an enormous chunk of work!   Before we ship anything to you, we will get in touch with you to confirm your mailing address, get any color preferences and collect shipping fees.  International backers must anticipate import taxes and fees charged by your country’s customs agency.

Q: How tall is Stickybones?

Answer:  Stickybones is 8.5 inches (21.5 cm) tall.  (1/9th Scale)

Q: Can I put clay, foam, or latex over Stickybones?

Answer:  Stickybones is designed to be a simple, easy-to-use solution that doesn’t require extra work.  We have not tested adding any kind of bulk to this figure… But that being said, we encourage people to get experimental and try out anything they’d like!

Q:  Is Stickybones meant to replace traditional stop motion armatures?

Answer:   We’re creating Stickybones to be a useful tool for all kinds of animators and artists—with the fantastic benefit of having the functionality of being able to create stop motion animation… it’s not meant to replace traditional stop motion armatures.  It’s meant to be a fast, easy and affordable solution for someone who wants to jump right in and pose or animate!

Q: Do you plan to release other characters or a quadruped?

Answer:  Yes, we are looking forward to using our patent pending joint system in alternate characters and animals!  Also, because our limbs and joints are modular, we can release variations on individual body parts.

Q: I’m just starting out in animation or looking to learn more about it. Is Stickybones for me?

Answer: Yes!  We’re creating Stickybones to be an intuitive, easy-to-use tool to help both professionals and beginners alike push their art and animation further!

Q:  Will you offer a surface or base that Stickybones can attach to?

Answer: Yes.  Every Stickybones will come with a FREE compact Pose-Plate to display your sweet poses.  If you want a larger surface on which to animate,  we recommend you pre-order a Performance Stage! 

Q: How long can Stickybones hold each pose?

Answer: Most poses should hold as long as you’d like them to!

Q:  How do the joints work?

Answer:  We have a patent pending joint system comprised of pre-tensioned, interlocking, snap-to-fit ball and socket parts you can pop apart and back together, when desired.  This allows Stickybones to be more modular and enhances the ability to modify the appearance and swap parts with variations we may release in the future.  This pre-tensioned ball and socket design also opens up the freedom of motion, maximizing the rotational range of our joints on the X,Y, Z axis.
