Stud Wall Storage(SWS) is a storage solution using framing studs of most U.S. residential constructed basements, garages, and sheds.

Story

Stud Wall Storage (SWS) is the best storage solution using framing studs of most residential construction in the U.S. Those with a basement, garage, or shed often have exposed 2 X 4 constructed walls with the studs having 16 inch centers and available unused space.

My stuff found that ideal spot an area with easy access and optimizing.  Space nothing else wanted but many things could use.  Rather than in boxes, out of sight and out of mind, SWS shelves are the easiest and most durable way for making unused space into prime storage.

Some uses are; Books, DVD’s, CD’s, cleaning supplies, painting supplies, tools, toys…

The stud wall space is 14.5 inches wide X 3.5 inches deep X height of the open wall.  The SWS 16 inch width allows front facing installation to studs PLUS parallel units across the wall.  The 3.625 depth insures the SWS unit reaches the wall board.

The SWS has two sides with different uses; flat for easier access and items over 3.5 deep or flip it over for a 1/2 inch tray keeping items secure towards the wall.  Two SWS units can be mounted together with the flat side up for an untested 7.225 inches deep platform.  When we reach our goal and production I expect we will explore this area in greater ‘depth’.

The prototype is complete (see video at Studwallstorage.com in FAQs).  We have tested fit, installation, and load bearing.  It passed all our expectations.  The injection molded product you receive will be better than the prototype in several ways.

Why is there an entry cost of $35?

$27.39 includes the initial ABS Plastic injection mold die for testing 25,000 units, kitting each shipment with 6 shelves, 36 screws, instructions for installing the units, a survey postcard (with alternate eMail survey response address), average postage of $7.61, paying the Kickstarter fees, compiling supporters response data, sharing the results, and deciding viability for large scale production. Expected retail sales price two shelves $9.99. The funded package value $29.97 + shipping.

Why ABS Plastic?

ABS is often produced from other recycled products. Any less than perfect Stud Wall Storage (SWS) Units will be ground up, recycled, and reused for making more SWS Units. Among the most widely identifiable ABS products are; keys on a computer keyboard, power-tool housings, the plastic face-guard on wall sockets and Legos.

Why ABS Plastic?

ABS is structurally very sturdy, resistant to chemicals, non-corrosive, won’t rust, and has a long ‘shelf’ life. Black makes your walls appear slimmer.

Is ABS plastic bad for the environment?

Grocery bags, and plastic straws are BAD plastic because they are disposable. Stud Wall Storage is GOOD plastic because it will last a very long time. It is relatively harmless in that it doesn’t have any known carcinogens, and there are no known adverse health effects related to exposure. ABS is typically suitable for 3D printing and prototype development because it is reusable with multiple options for conversion.
