Amazing effects of “TATAMI” insoles
Tatami mats that have been familiar to Japanese life since the Heian period(781 to 1185 AD)
The scent and elasticity of the tatami mats heal the hearts of Japanese people even today.
Liberato focused on the effect of the tatami mat
Surprising effect hidden in “tatami / rush”
”TATAMI” are used for the insoles to prevent stuffiness and odors.
It realizes functionality that allows you to spend comfortably even with bare feet.
The tatami insoles are made from tatami scraps that were originally discarded.
We add new value to waste and recycle it (= upcycling).
We will share the charm of “TATAMI”, a traditional Japanese culture, with people around the world as a brand identity.
Very soft eco-leather certified by Japan Eco-leather Association
To be a shoe that is friendly to people and the environment.
The leather uses only cow skin grown in Japan.
It adds new value to its skin without wasting the lives of edible livestock animals.
Among them, we are particular about using 100% eco-leather that is friendly to people and the environment, which complies with the “Japan Eco-leather Standard (JES)”.
Eco-leather is a leather that has been recognized by a specialized institution as having a low environmental impact that has cleared strict standards in the cycle of “manufacturing, transportation, sales, and reuse of products.”
The point is in the tanning process of reborn from leather to leather.
In fact, about 80% of the world’s leather uses “chromium”, which is tanned in large quantities using metallic compounds, but without proper management, it can become an extremely toxic substance and water pollution. May cause.
On the other hand, Liberato leather is tanned with “vegetable tannin” derived from plants such as mimosa. By soaking in tannins for a long period of time and infiltrating the ingredients, it has a more natural texture.
Comfortable to touch soft materials
We want you to feel eco-leather with bare skin
With that in mind, we make it with no lining. Therefore, you can feel the softness from the moment you touch the skin.
The instep is very soft and pain-free from slipping shoes.
In addition, it is durable with little shrinkage, and the more you use it, the more familiar the leather becomes and the deeper the color changes, so it is interesting to grow your own leather over the years.
Vibram sole for outstanding stability and durability
Slippers but non-slip grip
The outsole is a Vibram sole that originated in Italy. Originally started as a sole for mountaineering, it boasts excellent functionality.
It grips the ground firmly even on rainy days and is not slippery, and the thick sole has high impact absorption and excellent durability. It is lightweight regardless of its appearance and provides a comfortable fit even when walking for a long time.
Handmade by Japanese craftsmen using high quality materials luxuriously

About Us
Our Team
Liberato is a team of shoe lovers who usually work for Japanese companies.
While working at a consulting firm, director Hide runs an online select shop that sells luxury shoes such as TOD’S and Ferragamo as a side work.
I felt uncomfortable with the traditional business style of working while feeling tight with a suit and hard leather shoes all day long.
Meanwhile, the lifestyle changed due to the expansion of covid-19.
As the line between private and work styles fades, seek more comfort for yourself than ever before. Also, witnessing the Japanese industry hit by covid-19, I became more aware of the power of Japanese manufacturing and the sustainability of culture.
Against this background, I wanted to make shoes that make everyday life more comfortable and fashionable for both business and play, making the most of the charm of Japan, which led to the launch of “Liberato”.
Inspiration from Ukiyo-e
I happened to see the sandals worn by working townspeople in Hiroshige Utagawa’s “Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido”. Edo was a tradesman culture rarely seen in the world at that time. We focused on “IGUSA,” which is a material for sandals that has protected the feet of workers for a long time.
While investigating IGUSA, I learned a lot of the performance of natural power such as hygroscopicity and odor absorption. Furthermore, knowing the current situation of domestic IGUSA producers and the tatami industry shrinking, I wondered if there could be a new approach to rediscover the charm of Japan.
With COVID-19, I would like to reconsider the way of working and lifestyle itself, and send out to the world a really good product that can be in a natural state by making things that do not burden the natural environment as much as possible.
From now on, I think it is irreplaceable to select not only expensive brands but also things and things that you feel value for yourself.
