TempBuddy is a modern thermometer device. It connects to your phone and enables you to accurately (and instantly) measure body or object temperatures. TempBuddy is contactless, doesn’t require any battery, and records body temperature with an accuracy of ±0.15°C (±0.27°F) consistently. Get a Reading in Just Half a Single Second!?

Unlike contact thermometers that need to be placed under your tongue for up to 40 seconds or more, TempBuddy is a contactless device that measures your temperature in just half a single second!

A typical hand-held infrared thermometer may weigh around 150g. TempBuddy, on the other hand, only weighs 20g and measures only 2 inches (~5 cm) in length! This is smaller than the size of an AA battery and makes TempBuddy incredibly portable. TempBuddy delivers an ultra-compact and slim form factor so that you can take it with you effortlessly anywhere you go.

TempBuddy is designed to be a super portable, everyday carry (EDC) gadget. And It really is! The minimalist design of TempBuddy makes it easy to use at home, work, on trips, or anywhere you want. You have multiple options!

Aside from body temperature, TempBuddy can also measure the temperature of any object between 0 to 100 °C (32 to 212 °F) with ±0.5 °C (±0.9°F) accuracy! You can use it in the kitchen to measure the temperature of your food or coffee, for example.

Ideal for Childcare

One particular application of object measurement is for baby care needs, such as water, milk, or bathwater. Usually, mothers or caretakers would need to squeeze a few drops of milk from the bottle on their skin to check if the temp is okay for the baby. This technique is old and most likely inaccurate. TempBuddy provides an accurate, reliable solution for this purpose!

The Android or iOS application accompanying TempBuddy comes with a user-friendly interface, giving you several benefits.

You can:

• Take a measurement with ease and observe the result in large, easy-to-read text,
•  Mute the measurement notification sound so that you don’t disturb your baby or patient,
• Toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius as desired
•  Rotate the screen and perform the measurement in any orientation that is most convenient for you,
•  Create profiles for multiple users and keep track of their body temperature data.

No one likes to put an unsanitary and slow oral thermometer in their mouth. And who likes a big thermometer gun with an outdated interface and often inaccurate readings?

TempBuddy takes measurements in a safe and hygienic way. There’s no need to stick the device between the armpits or inside your mouth.

TempBuddy supports both Android and iOS mobile phones. The android package comes with a built-in USB-C port and a Micro USB adaptor for older phones. The iOS package comes with a built-in Lightning port.

TempBuddy doesn’t require any battery. Instead, it draws power from the connected smartphone to eliminate the need for a separate charging source.  This has a clear advantage that you don’t need extra batteries, letting you save a few extra dollars once in a while. TempBuddy is always at your service and never disappoints you with a dead battery when you need your thermometer!

We do care about customers’ needs and concerns. We conducted countless surveys about TempBuddy and we quickly realized that some parents are worried if their kid swallows a battery and the truth is they should be! If a child swallows a battery it can cause burning, corrosion, or completely destroy the tissue in the upper digestive tract and unfortunately, this damage can happen very quickly. 

Knowing this concern, we engineered TempBuddy to be batteryless! TempBuddy is powered by your phone and doesn’t need a battery. So, worry no more about batteries!! We got this covered!

At YouTech Solution, we are a team of talented and motivated young individuals, working together passionately to build innovative gadgets. Besides TempBuddy, we have other gadgets in development, and we have an ambitious plan to scale and expand our work. TempBuddy is the first product that we want to bring to the public through Kickstarter, and this campaign is a big step for us as a young startup.

As a startup, we don’t have enough funds yet for mass production. By running this campaign, we are seeking support from the crowdfunding community around the globe. And this is where you come in. Any good work requires patience and dedication! TempBuddy was not an exception! When we started developing TempBuddy, some told us to start selling TempBuddy ASAP and take advantage of the COVID-19 situation! But our response was always a big solid NO! We didn’t create TempBuddy just to benefit from the pandemic nor, as a team of professional engineers, did we want to bring a low-quality product to the market! Most importantly, we deeply believe that our long-term success lies in building quality Tech Solutions for You. That’s why we call ourselves: You+Tech+Solution.

So we stayed patient, and worked tirelessly to optimize all technical aspects. It took 4 versions and over a year of hard work to validate Design For Manufacturing (DFM). Now, TempBuddy is ready to go for production and with your help, we can achieve our goal and bring TempBuddy to market.

TempBuddy will be shipped worldwide. Shipping cost is already included in all pledges and you don’t need to worry about extra shipping costs ?

Please note that there might be slight fees for local taxes, duties, and VAT. This is subject to the laws and regulations of each individual country. Based on the quote we have from our shipping partner, there are no extra fees for USA and Canada. We do our best to keep these charges very low or eliminate them totally, wherever possible.

Right after the Kickstarter campaign, we will start a small production batch. By running this pilot production, we will ensure that everything goes according to our requirements in the manufacturing house and that the same level of quality is maintained across all the devices. If we find any points of enhancement, those will be applied to the mass production stage. We estimate the shipment would begin by Sep 2022.  As this is an estimate, timelines may get pushed up or pushed back. However, we will give our 100% at all stages to make sure that things are completed on, or even ahead of schedule.

Throughout recent years, we all have seen the devastating impacts of global warming, and how those impacts are becoming more frequent. It is a global problem and each and every one of us should take action if we ever want to save this planet for ourselves and for future generations.

One of the inspirations behind TempBuddy is to rethink outdated designs and come up with a minimalistic solution.  The layout of thermometers hasn’t changed in the last two decades. They all included batteries with dumb displays and basic interfaces. But wait for a second! Since everyone nowadays carries a portable smartphone that has a modern display and a built-in battery, we thought – why not do the same with thermometers? That’s where we put innovation to work. TempBuddy has a minimalistic design, with clear advantages over the old-fashioned thermometers.

Imagine the impact of TempBuddy on the environment if it’s used instead of older devices on a bigger scale? How many batteries and displays could we save from polluting our planet??

Risks and challenges

Creating a robust hardware product and maintaining the same quality in mass production is not an easy task. It takes expertise, experience, and commitment. Our team has years of experience in electronics design and manufacturing. Here is what we have done from the beginning of the TempBuddy project to mitigate the risks:

– TempBuddy has gone through several revisions and comprehensive validation tests. We ensured that TempBuddy is a durable device that delivers accurate and consistent readings. Our hard work and patience have paid off. We currently have the verified Design For Manufacturing (DFM) and are ready for mass production.

– In production, each TempBuddy unit goes through multiple calibrations and quality assurance steps. This results in extra labor and higher expenses, but we want to make sure that each unit that comes out of the manufacturing house is fully functional and meets our promises.

– We have been working with reputable fulfillment companies and have included conservative estimations for the cost and duration of the shipment in our calculations. We will continually work with our partners closely to ensure that you receive your TempBuddy package on time and in perfect condition.

Regardless, any project could encounter unexpected obstacles such as component supply shortage or enhancements required in the production process. If we face such unexpected events, we promise to be open, transparent and responsive to you. To us, the single most important consideration will always be delivering a fantastic product, and as such, quality is our highest priority.
