The Arboretum – A Project by EsoTerra
In 2019, Jared Scott and Elizabeth Philbrick took an incredible leap and moved to the heart of one of North America’s most historic fruit growing regions. With over 600 varieties of heritage apples, and the heart to turn them into something delicious, EsoTerra quickly became an international award-winning cidery with an eye towards preserving these unique apples.
Today, you can be a part of our next journey. That is right, we are putting literal ‘roots in the ground’, right here in La Plata County, Colorado! And with that move, we are adding wine to our repertoire. 
‘The Arboretum’ is Durango’s first Estate Winery, located just 15 minutes south of historic Durango, Colorado. With over 33 varieties of grapes and over 250 heritage varieties of apples, the Arboretum is a 70 acre masterclass in fruit growing. By planting these historic apples alongside cutting edge grape varieties, EsoTerra’s Arboretum is where our region’s rich fruit history comes face to face with its future. 
With the land AND the building purchased (That’s right – we are moving production to The Arboretum), we are poised and ready to start construction. And this is where you come in. Become A Founding Member today and watch us grow!
Why Durango?
We thought Durango already had it all… but now, it really does. Wake up each day to our crisp air and head to the mountains for hiking, biking or fishing. Ride the rapids of the Animas River. Each glass of cider or wine sold helps preserve some of America’s oldest and most vulnerable heritage apple trees. 
With a cutting edge vineyard, a conservation orchard, the wine production facility and tasting room, The Arboretum is the newest amenity to hit Southwest Colorado. Sit amongst the botanical gardens, while you sip a glass of wine. Enjoy a bottle with friends in the grass as live music gets your feet tapping. Or, simply take your kids to a harvest festival or for a day of apple picking, EsoTerra’s Arboretum is ready to make your life that much more engaging.

But we are not going in blind: EsoTerra has already put an immense amount of time and funds into this project. But skyrocketing costs and permitting delays have put our project in peril. We need help for the final erection (insert 12 year old laugher here). The building is literally on the ground and now we need YOUR HELP!
