What is it?

Anyone that has purchased a home knows that it can be a daunting experience. After making one of the largest and most complex purchases of your life, it is hard to know what to do to preserve the value of that investment. Homeowners want to have PEACE OF MIND and proactively maintain their homes. For this reason, a Cornell-based group of entrepreneurs created the BixBox™ (patent pending): a companion through your journey as a homeowner.  

The BixBox™ has three primary features:

How does it work?

Once purchased, the BixBox™ will be sent to your home. The device connects to your Wi-Fi, and you are then directed to our website to set up your account. After a short survey collecting living space details (location, #of rooms, etc.) you will be instructed where to place the BixBoxes. No complicated integration into an HVAC or plumbing system — simply place the box where directed. Subsequently, the device works silently analyzing air conditions, notifying you of any detected issues. Notifications will be sent via text, email, or call, depending on the severity of the issue. 

It is the first product in the market that provides preventative maintenance advice, money-saving tips, and live home environmental data. 

Why buy?

The average homeowner spends 1%-4% of the value of their home on maintenance expenditures. This can easily equate to thousands of dollars per year, especially when small issues are missed or neglected and become bigger issues. For example, a leaking pipe can cost $75-$375 to fix, depending on its location and severity. However, that issue can create thousands of dollars of repair costs if the pipe bursts, or leaks long enough to cause significant damage. Although certain expenses are unavoidable, Aabix was born with the vision to help homeowners reduce their average yearly spending on home maintenance while decreasing the risk of severe issues. As a secondary benefit, the homeowner is able to better maintain the value of their home while reducing their environmental footprint. 

While there are a few existing products that also claim to operate in a similar space, the BixBox™ is far ahead of its competition in terms of features and affordability. We challenged ourselves to use cost-effective hardware and paired it with powerful cloud-based algorithms to achieve incredible value for homeowners.

Having completed our prototype, the Aabix team is looking to raise $60,000 to finance our first commercially viable set of Bixboxes. The money raised will primarily be used to cover our additional research, full-stack development, and manufacturing costs.
