With a unique geometry to the dial design there truly is no other dive watch quite like the Gin Clear Diver. The design acknowledges the vintage divers of the past but, through the combination of modern manufacturing techniques and the Second Hour Watches design language, the Gin Clear Diver has its eye firmly on the future.  We divided our dial up into thirds, with major markers at 12, 4 and 8 o’clock offsetting the rounded circular indexes at all other positions. We absolutely love the effect created, and believe it sets the Gin Clear Diver apart.

Because of the build quality, careful selection of components and quality controls applied throughout the manufacture and post-manufacture stages the Gin Clear Diver can be relied upon to function at its peak for years to come. We not only strongly believe in what we have created, but are certain our watches will take pride of place in your collection, however large or small. The Gin Clear Diver dial design, just like our logo, embodies our love for sacred geometry. 

After developing the design and specification requirements for the Gin Clear Diver, around 15 manufacturing partners were engaged and tested to gauge the quality of service and ability to correctly interpret the design. After a costly process of elimination, several prototypes were produced from just three remaining manufacturers. Once these were examined in the Second Hour Watches workshop there was one clear choice with whom to partner.

The Gin Clear Divers you see here today are the result of this exhaustive (and exhausting) search for the perfection we want to share with you. We know you’ll agree that the Gin Clear Diver not only looks spectacular, but has outstanding specifications and finishing at a price point that cannot be matched.

SO WHAT’S IN THE GIN CLEAR DIVER?

DIMENSIONS

Here’s the vital statistics of the Gin Clear Diver, a perfectly proportioned diver targeted to fit every wrist.

• Case diameter: 41.5mm. 42.5mm including the coin edge bezel
• Lug to lug length: 49mm
• Lug opening: 22mm
• Case thickness (excluding domed sapphire crystal): 12.3mm
• Bracelet: 22mm tapering to 18mm at the clasp

The Movement:  you can’t make a watch with the finishing and build quality of the Gin Clear Diver and pair it with anything less than the finest Swiss automatic movement available at the price point: the Sellita SW200. The SW200 is a 26 jewel high beat movement beating at a vibration rate of 28,800 bph, 4Hz that features 38 hour power reserve, seconds hacking and hand winding. With a stated accuracy of between +/-12 seconds and +/- 30 seconds per day, in real world use our prototypes were performing between +2 to +6.5 seconds per day. 

Movement Regulation: high accuracy can only be achieved because we regulate each movement during assembly in four positions, allowing us to hone that accuracy and monitor the movement for beat rate errors which may indicate a fault and require a change of movement.

The dials: When you want a diver that screams class as well as utility you use highly detailed, 3D embossed dials. The Gin Clear Diver comes in four standard colours (Pastel Blue, Arctic White, Cream Sand and Black Sand) and two surface textures (light sheen and sand). Each dial is clean, precise and beautiful in its own right, with something to see every time you catch yourself staring deeply into its surface.

CHANGES FOR THE PRODUCTION VERSION

Since producing the prototypes and sending them around the world for review we have received and absorbed extensive feedback. Second Hour Watches have listened and are happy to announce the following changes for our production models:

• A VERSION OF THE BLACK CERAMIC BEZEL INSERT WILL BE PRODUCED WITH A MATT, LIGHTLY BRUSHED FINISH TO REDUCE REFLECTIONS – GLOSS BLACK WILL STILL BE AVAILABLE
• THE APPLICATION OF BGW9 SUPERLUMINOVA TO THE CERAMIC BEZEL INSERT, ALTHOUGH STRONG, WILL BE INCREASED TO MATCH THE DIAL AND HANDS
• HEAD LINK INTEGRATION IS TO BE IMPROVED SO AS TO PROVIDE A MORE SEAMLESS BRACELET TO WATCH HEAD INTEGRATION
• WE’LL BE LENGTHENING THE CROWN BY A SMALL AMOUNT FOR IMPROVED ABILITY TO GRIP AND ACTUATE
• LUGS HAVE BEEN REDESIGNED TO HAVE A POLISHED BEVELLED EDGE THAT ADDS A DRESSIER EDGE TO THE WATCH
• OUR LOGO HAS BEEN REDESIGNED, REMOVING THE LINE BENEATH SECOND HOUR ALONG WITH A CHANGE OF FONT WHICH GREATLY IMPROVES THE DIAL PRESENTATION
• DIAL TEXT HAS BEEN IMPROVED: CAPITALISING THE WORDS GIN CLEAR AND REMOVING THE WORD DIVER, GIVING A MUCH CLEANER, BALANCED LOOK
• WE’RE ADDING AN ADDITIONAL LAYER OF ANTI-REFLECTIVE COATING TO THE SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL (BECAUSE WHY NOT) – NOW 6 LAYERS!!

• 1 x leather two watch travel case. A zip up hard case that will keep your watches safe when you roam (see pictures below)
