Two stars from Hollywood’s golden age have one chance to confront the lies that forced them apart.
Roll camera, and…
I’m Brian Foyster, the writer and director of the short film The Last Take. I got my BFA in Acting at SUNY Purchase and I’ve been working in film, theater, and television for decades. I’ve written and directed several short films and have written one feature with two more in the works. I’m currently developing two television series: one high-concept thriller and one period drama. I’m a member of The Actors Studio and I also serve on it’s Board of Directors.
Action:
Set in Los Angeles in 1965, The Last Take centers around two movie stars who both got their start in 1935. They fell in love on set but were forced into fake marriages by the studio they were under contract with. After thirty years apart, one is met with tragic news and has only so much time to reach out to the other so they can finally reconcile their long lost love.
The Last Take is a celebration of love despite all of it’s obstacles. During Hollywood’s golden age gay stars had to lie and hide their true selves if they wanted to succeed. Systematic homophobia, the early years. I want to make this film to finally tell their story, the one they couldn’t tell us. This film’s themes of love, consequence, and regret are timeless and relevant to today, making this story all the more important to be told. Love is love and a great story makes for a great movie.
The Cast:
Robert John Burke will play Everett and Myles Clohessy will play Young Everett. Robert has worked with Spielberg, Spike, De Niro three times, and Clooney twice. His film and television career is off the charts. Myles is guest starring on TV’s biggest shows and we are thrilled that both of these pros are on board.
Brian Foyster will play William and Reed Michael Campbell will play Young William. Reed is a recent grad of USC’s acting conservatory, has already appeared in nine films, and has all the talent necessary for this challenging role.
A legendary, famous actor has been offered an important role and he is interested. Once we reach our goal to make the film, our stretch goal after that will be used to make him an offer that suits an actor of his stature.
The amazing ensemble SO FAR: (left to right, top to bottom):
