Two stars from Hollywood’s golden age have one chance to confront the lies that forced them apart.

Story

Roll camera, and…

I’m Brian Foyster, the writer and director of the short film The Last Take. I got my BFA in Acting at SUNY Purchase and I’ve been working in film, theater, and television for decades. I’ve written and directed several short films and have written one feature with two more in the works. I’m currently developing two television series: one high-concept thriller and one period drama. I’m a member of The Actors Studio and I also serve on it’s Board of Directors.

Action:

Set in Los Angeles in 1965, The Last Take centers around two movie stars who both got their start in 1935. They fell in love on set but were forced into fake marriages by the studio they were under contract with. After thirty years apart, one is met with tragic news and has only so much time to reach out to the other so they can finally reconcile their long lost love.

The Last Take is a celebration of love despite all of it’s obstacles. During Hollywood’s golden age gay stars had to lie and hide their true selves if they wanted to succeed. Systematic homophobia, the early years. I want to make this film to finally tell their story, the one they couldn’t tell us. This film’s themes of love, consequence, and regret are timeless and relevant to today, making this story all the more important to be told. Love is love and a great story makes for a great movie.

The Cast:

Robert John Burke will play Everett and Myles Clohessy will play Young Everett. Robert has worked with Spielberg, Spike, De Niro three times, and Clooney twice. His film and television career is off the charts. Myles is guest starring on TV’s biggest shows and we are thrilled that both of these pros are on board.

Brian Foyster will play William and Reed Michael Campbell will play Young William. Reed is a recent grad of USC’s acting conservatory, has already appeared in nine films, and has all the talent necessary for this challenging role.

A legendary, famous actor has been offered an important role and he is interested. Once we reach our goal to make the film, our stretch goal after that will be used to make him an offer that suits an actor of his stature.

The amazing ensemble SO FAR: (left to right, top to bottom):

Sofia Vassilieva, Jack Heller, Robert John Seikaly, Cindy Dolenc, Yvette Brooks, Daniel Sackler, Alex Gorenson, Melissa Sulivan, Cordelia Himelstein. Also cast: Dan Topiol.

If for any reason we don’t reach our goal we will see if we’re able to meet our high standards with the amount we do raise. Should it not be enough, the funds will be kept frozen until we’re able to raise the necessary difference and make the film in the professional and fully-realized manner that it deserves.

The Impact

We’re delighted that this screenplay has attracted so many talented artists to the project. We confidently invite to join us as we bring this deeply moving, bittersweet, yet often humorous story of true love and old Hollywood to screens across the world. We know the professionalism of our team will realize the full breadth of the material, thereby making the film a project you will be proud to be a part of.

Risks & Challenges

One of the many benefits of a team like ours is that we have a large network of resources between us. Regardless of the challenges we may face, our troubleshooting and problem-solving experience will be the remedy. We believe that being fully prepared is the best strategy.

Our DP Josh will be shooting on the Red Dragon 5K.
