We believe life is best when simple things work…

When we create our designs, we use various tools-some basic, some advanced. In the midst of design work on others, the humble ruler came to our attention and we began to look at one of our most used tools in a new light.

 

What’s special about the 30° Ruler?

 

Sometimes all it takes is one great idea to revolutionize a product. For the 30° Ruler, it was a simple elevation. By lifting the slope on the ruler’s face by 30°, we’ve made it easier to use, and we’ve expanded what you can use it for. It’s simple but effective – that’s what Orangered Life is all about.

 

 

With a 30° slope, you can read the measurements from a glance without having to lean over to use the device. So you switch from a tilted neck to a tilted ruler – keeping your back straight and your eyes on the target.

 

 

The elevation also allows for easy grabbing, without having to drag it towards the edge of the table or dig your nails underneath it. Finally, the angled nature of the ruler makes it safe for cutting.

 

 

Alongside simplicity, we believe clarity is key. The 30° Ruler does away with teeny measurements, instead opting for large fonts and clear indications. This means you can read the measurements from a distance, and you’ll always be sure to find your mark.

 

 

Apart from its signature sloped design, the 30° Ruler also has a couple of new features.

 

 

This 2-in-1 ruler has millimetres and centimetres on one side, inches on the reverse. We’ve labelled them in the same direction allowing for easy conversions.

 

 

The 30° Ruler is designed to eliminate the confusion and strain of reading your typical ruler,  so every tick mark is labelled. 

• On the Imperial measurement side, all hash marks are labelled to eliminate guessing and counting of lines.  
• On the Metric measurement side, both the millimetres and centimetres are numbered and the hash marks rise and fall making it easy to identify specific millimetre measurements.

 

 

The 30° Ruler starts at zero. It is another simple design feature meaning you can start measuring from the very edge of the ruler instead of having to make adjustments for the useless blank space before the laser engraved measurements.

 

 

The ruler itself is made from aerospace-grade aluminium while the measurements are laser targeted. In addition to making it more durable, the advanced materials make the 30° Ruler more lightweight and scratch-resistant.

The ruler also comes in four sizes of 15cm/6inch, 20cm/8inch, 30cm/12inch and 45cm/18inch; so you can choose the right sized ruler depending on what you’re measuring.

 

 

The new colour was one of the biggest asks we got from our previous backers. And we don’t disappoint our backers! We exist because of you guys, so we’re proud to offer the new colours and new sizes.  Not sure which you like? Don’t worry about that yet!
