LINCOLN BLOCK’S Mission

To bring back the days where the possibility of home ownership was a reality to all. When you could build your own home, have something of quality that would last, and not have to incur massive debt in doing so.

Affordable, high quality, attainable by anyone, and truly green. LINCOLN BLOCK® revolutionizes the building industry, and people are already lining up to get a piece of it.

A LINCOLN BLOCK® wall 2 courses high.

Grade-Line Downfall Repurposed

The concept of building with blocks is quite common, and one of the best things about LINCOLN BLOCK® is how we grade lumber on our own scale, similar to how a specialized lumber mill would. LINCOLN BLOCKS® capitalize on surplus lumber that cannot be used for dimensional framing or other high strength applications. That lumber is inspected for a multitude of defects, and every lumber mill on earth is practically guaranteed to have a surplus of rejected stock. This material is what we use to create LINCOLN BLOCK®, proving that the overall energy cost to create home building materials can be significantly lower than it is today. We will continue to refine our designs and patents for the foreseeable future. With the proper infrastructure, LINCOLN BLOCK® could supply the entire world with highly energy efficient building materials.

THE ORIGINAL LINCOLN BLOCK®

6 inch Douglas-Fir Wood Wall Block

A real-life LINCOLN BLOCK®, approximately 2 feet long.

LINCOLN BLOCK® Anatomy

LINCOLN BLOCK® is extremely robust and capable of handling all different types of applications. The shear strength of a LINCOLN BLOCK® wall is off the charts, and we’ve done the math to prove it. Our patented 6-in. block is an end-user ready product capable of servicing the housing market en masse. No additional siding, drywall, or finish sheathing material required. Stainless nails and Sikaflex®-1A work together by both fastening and adhering the interior and exterior wall panels to the spline blocks. It’s essentially a wooden brick with the properties of a glu-lam beam, concrete form, or other super strong permanent structure.

 Highly Compatible & Standardized

Install LINCOLN BLOCK® with the tools & methods you’re already familiar with. Industry standard hardware fastens to virtually any new or existing foundation. The two opposing indoor/outdoor planks of the LINCOLN BLOCK® structure are precisely aligned by incrementally added internal Spline Block pieces with cross grain orientation. Laminated posts guarantee perfect corners every time, and additional spline pieces interconnect each course of block and transmit point loads around doors and windows. Tie-downs, anchors for structural supports, conduits, and job boxes are hidden in the wall.

Hollow Wall Advantages

The hollow wall has a three and an eighth inch gap for mounting hardware, attaching point loads, or any other fixture. The entire cavity is filled and sealed by the foam and glue along each course, virtually eliminating the “chimney effect” where air channels would cause a house to burn very rapidly once a fire catches on. A LINCOLN BLOCK® home is not nearly as susceptible to fires as a platform framed home. The finished sealed panel will mitigate a fire’s ability to spread through, there by giving you time to identify a problem or stop a potentially life threatening situation in disaster scenarios.

Weather Resistant Self-Contained Barrier

Every single course from top to bottom is glued together as you cut, stack, and nail. The tongue and groove looks similar to decking or siding, but there’s actually a small gap of space, enough for a one-inch long strip of glue about point zero six inches thick. This ensures the glue doesn’t squeeze out of the joint, while also completely sealing the internal structure from the outside. The thermal break provided by LINCOLN BLOCK® is nearly perfect, and eliminates mistakes in construction by offering a fool-proof block stacking method.

Acrylic latex elastomeric sealant (caulking) occupies the tongue and groove space.

Finished As You Stack

Conventional log homes use a full wall bolting system. The LINCOLN BLOCK® system utilizes modern insulations and sealants resulting in a super strong wood panel that only needs to be bolted to the foundation on the first course. The rest of the building is finished as you go, with all the layers of construction replaced with a few simple steps.

One Block At A Time

Trending markets include small footprint homes, off-grid living, and remote work. Our customers can provide themselves with a gorgeous finished product even past the narrowest alleys, or down the most treacherous switch backs. You can service up to a four story structure with limited transportation and crew. Just cut, glue, stack, and nail, one block at a time, and you can complete any project that you can dream. LINCOLN BLOCK® is primarily aimed at people who need affordable shelter.

“From the moment it was invented and we started snapping together ‘wooden bricks’, we were endlessly motivated.”

– John Venturo, Inventor / President LINCOLN BLOCK INC

You can build anything with LINCOLN BLOCK®! Block by block.

Less Training Required For A Better Finished Product

Everyone who has used LINCOLN BLOCK® will tell you their new found confidence in building has changed their life for the better. By simplifying the entire envelope of a house down to block patterns that always fit together throughout the entire stacking process, the fundamental design of homes is improved. Gone are the days of poor craftsmanship hidden by trim only for the homeowner to discover when catastrophic damage occurs. Said buildings still pass inspection mind you, because in our opinion the method of construction used is not up to the standards it should be. LINCOLN BLOCK® eliminates the problem by providing a consistent product that gives you the beautiful look of a log cabin with an affordable price, low environmental impact, and reduced labor required.

Stability Of Goods

LINCOLN BLOCK® sells at a retail price of $5 per linear foot. The industrial grade lumber market with bountiful quantities of wood stabilizes our end user costs. The cost of traditional home building materials and the high grade required has caused massive fluctuations in price for plywood, framing studs, and many other components. However, the price of LINCOLN BLOCK® will continue to remain steady, and many areas will decrease because we are using a downfall grade of lumber that has vast availability. We capture surplus lumber at the mill level, manufacture block, and sell by the foot.

The steady cost of LINCOLN BLOCK® compared to fluctuating wood products.

Demand For LINCOLN BLOCK® Increases Daily

We are offering the world a housing model truly attainable by anyone. Eco-conscious builders, contractors, developers, first time home buyers, snowbirds, retirees, and anyone else as they become inspired by their capability to build their own home. Since 2011, LINCOLN BLOCK INC. has sold over 50,000 block feet, with our yearly average currently increasing. Without proper infrastructure or operating capital, we have 100% boot strapped this situation. Our company is the quintessential success story; we have invested every profit back into research and development of our product. By 2021, with the proper funding, even the most conservative model shows 100,000+ block feet sold and theoretically a continuous increase post haste.

Lumber Legacy

Introducing necessity, the mother of our invention. The LINCOLN BLOCK® origin story in the words of Crystal Frye, LINCOLN BLOCK INC.

“My dad John Venturo invented LINCOLN BLOCK because he needed to solve a problem for himself. You see, he broke his back- and was unable to lift, let alone build a structure! For someone with over forty years of history and experience in the building industry this was devastating. He was not used to having to hire out contractors. After firing multiple crews off a simple roofing job- he called in my brother and cousin to finish the job whether it killed him or not. He was in so much pain. It was 100 degrees outside and having to yell up to them on the roof to walk them thru the job instead of just being able to do it himself was his own idea of hell. He knew then that he would never be able to pull off his and my mother’s dream of building another home on their property using traditional methods. After a long, hot day he threw up his hands and went fishing. It was on the bank of Lake Roosevelt, WA that the idea for LINCOLN BLOCK came into his brain.”

The Team

LINCOLN BLOCK® HQ

LINCOLN BLOCK INC. headquarters in Lake Stevens, WA

We operate with a skeleton crew of volunteers that have consistently given a generous allowance of their time, money, and expertise to the company. All of the proceeds from sales go to research and development of the LINCOLN BLOCK® product line so we are extremely thankful and humbled by the dedication of our team. With virtually no budget for advertising, overhead costs, transportation, etc., they have still managed to bring thousands of inquiries through direct, search engine, or walk-in contact.

The behind the scenes stuff, paperwork, applications, accounts receivable, patent filing, and so much more has been accomplished through sheer passion and dedication to the cause. There is no doubt that without these key individuals, LINCOLN BLOCK® would not be where it is today. The company has plans to enter the global lumber market and establish connections with many industry professionals thanks to the ongoing efforts of the team.

Attainable Housing

The world today has a constantly increasing demand for housing, and not just for the working class! Those of us less fortunate who find themselves without a home will be greatly benefited by becoming a part of the LINCOLN BLOCK® family. Our building product is so affordable, many people who otherwise wouldn’t have access to high quality, long lasting housing can now build their own home with their own two hands with minimal experience or guidance. We always say even the worst LINCOLN BLOCK® jobs still turn out way better than conventional construction!

The public needs an easy to use block construction technology like LINCOLN BLOCK®

Current methods are too difficult for the average person to decipher like blueprints, building codes, and labor methods. The reputation of reliability in average housing markets is declining due to convoluted methods and predatory sales. In other words, many structures do not outlast their mortgage term. Additionally, home prices are sky high. Many factors contribute to the situation, however LINCOLN BLOCK® seeks to teach methods long forgotten so that we may re-learn what we once understood. The fact that if you build a structure to last, it will not only build you personal wealth and security in real estate, but give you a chance to help the next generation contribute even more to society.

Methods Of Construction

 Ancient + Modern = Disruptive

We think LINCOLN BLOCK® is one of the best answers for the affordable housing crisis. Some have called us a “disruptive technology” considering wood building blocks are no common method, especially in the USA. Brick or stone building blocks however, especially modern ones, are in thousands of cities worldwide. There are a lot of advantages to this method, and to us the next choice is painfully obvious. The “uh, duh” moment when one realizes the nearly infinite capabilities of a simple wooden block made from recycled surplus lumber; we have seen it more than a few times.

Environmentally Conscious

Our Douglas-Fir LINCOLN BLOCK® manufacturing cost per foot has remained the same since the company’s inception. Cedar and specialty woods are slightly higher but still remain affordable. Given the necessary infrastructure the per-foot manufacturing cost would drop significantly. Realistically the block is not a complicated structure, and the machines used to create our patented wood patterns are commonplace among lumber mills and their proprietors. The assembly of each LINCOLN BLOCK® is easily accomplished in a special jig and repeatable to infinity.

Healthy Living With Wood

Living inside any building and breathing in the micro particulates given off as the structure heats and cools will directly affect your health. Modern building-department approved technology like OSB (Oriented Strand Board) and LSL (Laminated Strand Lumber) will off-gas chemicals directly into your home for several years after construction completes. These engineered wood products, when directly exposed to moisture, are more susceptible to ingress of mold, mildew, and rot. By using real LINCOLN BLOCKS® straight from the lumber mill, you can ensure that your home is safe to live in from day one.

Reduce “Technostress”

There are empirical studies with data showing contact with wood induces physiological relaxation. This is not proof that wood itself has any ability to cure disease or treat symptoms, but there is a reason people enjoy nature so much. Humanity must constantly steer itself towards achieving an equilibrium with the environment, and incorporating wood into your waking, sleeping, breathing, and every day life is great considering our whole world now is staying inside more than ever, tuning our screens for work and play.

Biophilic Design

Wood is a part of the core of humanity, with thousands of years of history between the two of them. Industrialized society’s evolving methods of construction have steered towards monoliths, cardboard, concrete or metal. A LINCOLN BLOCK® home combines modern techniques into a wood building block that sets up easier and faster than any other brick or block method, the final result being a permanent, beautiful structure capable of lasting many lifetimes. As our society transitions into a greener and more advanced future, our homes should reflect our studies. Most people prefer to live in a real wood home, that much is certain to us.

Verification Through Experimentation

Joe M. is our first customer to build a two story LINCOLN BLOCK® structure. He and his family were able to build it entirely on their own. They have achieved exactly what we envisioned, the ability to build their own home with their own two hands! Keep in mind not Joe nor any of his helpers had actually built a house before, let alone a two story one! Never the less it stands today and will last for many enjoyable years and then some. Joe took one look at LINCOLN BLOCK®, and as a seasoned fireman his impression was that it’s extremely fire resistant. Its important to remember that all LINCOLN BLOCK® structures built to date have been highly experimental, yet in all his wisdom Joe chose to use it because his experiences as a fireman told him it was the best option.

Sustainable Forestry Unboxed

When considering the problem of servicing the next generation with industry construction technology, we propose that LINCOLN BLOCK® is the only wood block building system capable of scaling worldwide to meet demand because it’s remarkable easy to use. We stand the tallest among the many competitors trying the same thing because LINCOLN BLOCK® is the offering the ability to scale small format building blocks made of sustainable economy grade lumber. Buying your house through modern, efficient means similar to an E-commerce company is more realistic using a system like LINCOLN BLOCK®. The simple reason for this is because the standard layers of construction are too complicated. The major disconnect between new homebuyers and the home building process grows ever further as construction becomes more convoluted through regulation.
