The Queen, The Knight, and The Witch focuses on AMBER a reserved, calculated engineer who hires a sex worker to engage in medieval foreplay through an audiobook, on the eve of her 35th birthday. The entire film happens in one night in a dingy motel room with T’RON, a sex worker from South Central LA, that helps defeat her anxiety about doing the do! 

Within the film, Amber listens to a fictional fantasy book titled “The Queen, The Knight, and The Witch” in which QUEEN NIA, cursed by a wicked Witch, has to be deflowered by midnight or else she’ll be a virgin forever. Amber adopts this story for herself and seeks a sex worker to get it done.  Insert —> T’Ron…a 5-Star-Rated, STD verified, certified Cherry Destroyer from the QuikandEasy sex app to save her from her self-fulfilling prophecy. 

Amber’s anxiety and shame is personified into the image of a terrifying WITCH that haunts her thoughts whenever someone gets close. This film is essentially about confronting your internal “Witch” (insecurities) to achieve mental, emotional, and sexual liberation.

Now where did this cometh from, you ask?

I’ve always been a lover of fantasy novels, old english romance, throwback Zane books (IYKYK), audiobooks, Bridgerton, and Game of Thrones.

I’m 34 and feel very much a late bloomer at a time when society has determined we should be getting married, having kids, and living the white picket fence dream. 

TQTKTW is a shout out to all my late bloomers that have may have issues with intimacy and want to do the deed without shame or guilt. It’s also an ode to LISTENING to literature through the wonderful world of audiobooks. We’re going to explore Amber’s codependency and escapism as she steps into this new phase of womanhood. So think Judd Apatow’s 40-Year-Old Virgin but a Black woman at 35, hiring a sex work, with some medieval kinky activities. Yup, we’re bringing back rom-coms with a relatable twist! 

TQTKTW was a finalist in the 2022 Tribeca x Chanel Through Her Lens Program, semifinalist in ScreenCraft’s Fall 2024 Virtual Pitch and 2024 Filmmatic Comedy Screenplay Awards – Season 9.

TQTKW focuses on Insecurity, Anxiety, Vulnerability, Sexual Agency, Shame, and Human Connection

Tonally, TQTKTW resembles the regality of BRIDGERTON, the awkward crass comedy of THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN and INSECURE, and the visceral depth of I MAY DESTROY YOU. 

This cinematic comedy will be shot subjectively through Amber’s perspective as she navigates touch and intimacy with T’Ron. She mentally blends Queen Nia’s fictional world with her own as her anxiety and shame drives the film.  

Production design and wardrobe will be crucial to sell the Medieval period scenes. We want the Queen’s Chambers to look and feel as stunning as Amber imagines it. Which will contrast the drab environment of the motel room. 

High quality special makeup and VFX will be needed to sell the Witch and magical elements. The narrator for the audiobook will be a British woman and the soundscape will be a blend of medieval trap music, film score, and magical sound design. Alllll the delicious quirkiness for my fantasy girlies and zems!

Why Thy Film? Why Now?

An estimated 31.1% of U.S. adults experience an anxiety disorder at some time in their lives and we rarely talk about sexual anxiety. I’ve had several very impactful conversations with friends about deeply rooted fears associated with sex and where it originates from. All genders, both single and married, deal with performance anxiety, insecurities and crippling shame. 

There are limited outlets to explore sex safely without deep shame and judgment and we want to do it through comedy. 

TQTKTW is a story of a woman regaining her power. Our goal is for anyone struggling with anxiety of intimacy to feel seen and laugh along the way. 

Cost & Production Expenses

The scheduled shoot dates are three days, Jan. 18-20, 2025 in Los Angeles, CA. We’re looking to raise $50,000 to bring this concept to life and uphold the artistic vision. 

We know it’s a tough time right now. Mentally, emotional, financially, and spiritually — it’s just a lot to EXIST but we appreciate any amount you may be able to provide. Every cent will go towards paying the cast and crew, renting camera equipment and gear, insurance, feeding everyone, locations, visual effects (VFX), Special effects (SPX) makeup, costumes, unique genre-blending music, and post production. Due to the mature content and discussion of sex work, we will have an intimacy coordinator to protect the actors.
