This campaign was created with the intention of growth and abundance in the black & queer community.
Welcome to Slick,
My name is Ricky Davii, former hairstylist and CEO + Founder of Slick.
At the peak of the pandemic we saw an influx of resources given to various communities, but there was no one platform for us–Black and Queer creatives–to navigate and receive all eligible resources. We witnessed brand and other industry leaders distribute money and other forms of support inconsistently and some gave nothing at all.
This inspired me to take action.
Slick is that community. Slick will be the resource destination for Black and Queer creative leaders to get what we need. Through mentorship, initiatives, collaborations, financial support and so much more, we will be a consistent space for our communities.
So this is where we are…
In order for Slick to reach its highest potential within this phase of development, we need to raise $75,000. These funds will provide:
Hire (1) part-time Research Assistant to stay on top of and gather any relevant information for grants and other forms for support available to us.
Hire (1) part-time Social Media + Marketing Intern to keep us connected on social platforms.
To provide (10) needs-based Slick Grants distributed on a monthly basis.
Slick HQ Expansion: including renovations to the co-working space for community members.
Your love matters.
Slick is not only here to hold up a mirror to the great creatives in our communities, but also provide the space to grow and improve the visions each and every one of us has.
With each contribution to this campaign, Slick becomes that much more real, that much more closer to becoming a space so many of us need right now and moving forward to step into the power we already have.
In this phase not only are we able to build momentum through consistency but we will be able to create part- time employment, resources and exposure through partnerships and initiatives.
The reality is that,
None of this can happen overnight, there will be challenges and adversities along the way such as finding the right investors, collaborators to push our community and projects forward and anything else haters may throw our way.
Slick will prevail no matter what.
Despite these bumps we know we’ll face along the road, we are committed to being transparent and honest about where we are and what we need throughout the process.
We also know everybody don’t got it like that, in terms of giving money, but there are so many other ways to show love.
You can share this campaign via social media, you can tell a friend to tell a friend and if you have other non-monetary resources you’d like to donate we’d love to talk to you about it.
With so much love and gratitude,
