Story Synopsis

Paige Thorpe, a therapist and the owner of a small marriage counseling service, has some marital issues of her own. Her husband Ben has always been aloof and secretive about his past, but as of late he is becoming more and more so. When Paige learns of her father-in-law’s unexpected passing, she sees an opportunity to help Ben heal from whatever wounds are causing their marital dismay. After some convincing, and guidance from unseen forces, Ben agrees to travel with Paige and their four-year-old son, Noah, back to his hometown to attend the funeral.

Upon their arrival, Paige is surprised to learn that Ben’s “childhood home” is a gigantic mansion, and his father was an extremely generous philanthropist. This is not the scene of the troubled childhood she suspected she would find here. She wonders why Ben would have distanced himself from this life of luxury.

As Paige attempts to use the circumstances of their trip to get Ben to tell her the truth about his past, the Thorpe family begins to encounter some strange phenomena. Howling screams echoing from the forest surrounding the house, unnerving encounters with locals, and the increasing presence of what seems to be a paranormal entity all serve to drive a wedge between Paige and Ben.

As these encounters escalate into violence, Paige takes it upon herself to get to the bottom of this turmoil. Her research reveals the story of a missing girl, presumed dead, who lived on the same street where Ben grew up. Even worse, Ben’s father was the person of interest in the case until it was abandoned for lack of evidence. Was it really a lack of evidence, or does all of this philanthropy add up to something more sinister?
