Concept

Uplifting communities through 3v3 basketball and giving a platform to the top hoopers globally.

Story

Overview.

Sport creates unity and drives a positive impact for both communities and individuals. Founded by former professional athletes, Jordan Norwood and Mario Chalmers, the vision recreates the streetball days of the 1990’s and 2000s while developing an avenue for positive community impact and for hoopers to gain the global recognition their skills and personality warrant. THR33S leans into its purpose by traveling the globe and positioning itself in three main verticals:

  • Community Impact
  • Viral Basketball Content
  • Discovery and Springboard for Up & Coming Basketball Talent

“I remember playing 10-n-under AAU basketball in Baltimore. I was in awe of watching the 16U teams with Carmelo Anthony, James White, and Jarret Jack. Seeing those guys up close and just giving them a high five, opened a new realm of possibility for me.” Jordan Norwood – College Basketball Player and 8 Year NFL Alum

What We Need & What You Get

THR33S has already verified the want for this concept via a successful event in Miami 2023, which resulted in elevating one of our stars, Nas Core, to the BIG3 league, more hoopers pounding at our door to be at our next event, and opening the gates of access to communities like Rucker Park in Harlem.

That said, we are aiming to grow sustainably. We are fielding calls with brands and live streaming rights companies but would like to keep THR33S as altruistic as possible during this early building phase. That’s where you come in. Here are the numbers:

  • By hitting our funding goal of $75K…
    • We will add three more youth clinics in 2024
    • We will live-stream our THR33S event at Rucker Park on August 25, 2024
    • We will continue to reward and compensate celebrity basketball talent
    • We will build more revenue opportunities for talent (merch, trading cards, path to pros)
    • We will fund youth basketball leagues to play our 3v3 version of basketball
  • By contributing to our funding goal you get…
    • The THR33S promo pack–stickers, a follow on Instagram
    • A limited edition We Are Hoops Culture tee shirt
    • A premium, limited edition THR33S merch bundle– hat and heavyweight hoodie–and a personalized video-thank-you from Mario Chalmers.
    • A personalized THR33S basketball jersey and meet and greet with talent at THR33S NYC
    • VIP Access to all THR33S events and signed basketball of all talent
    • Your choice of company branding on competition basketball jerseys at THR33S NYC
  • If we do not hit our funding goal the funds will go toward…
    • Executing THR33S NYC at Rucker Park
    • Hosting the youth clinic in partnership with PAL in Harlem
    • Capturing viral basketball moments with high-end video
    • Creating an incredible fan experience in NYC
    • Developing merch and basketball jerseys
    • Covering travel and lodging for competitors for THR33S NYC
    • Covering security, insurance, and logistic needs for THR33S NYC
    • Fulfilling the rewards for individuals that contributed to this campaign

The Impact

Whether your contribution is five dollars or a thousand, it makes a difference! :

  • Sports are the most consistent unifying mechanism that the world has seen.
  • We learn more about life through sports–winning, training, practicing, cheering, and losing. There are never enough opportunities to compete in sports!
  • Live streaming these events without being handcuffed to an exclusive media rights deal will become a possibility.
  • Our team has invested all we can (and then some) into this vision. Help us build the foundation of THR33S without taking on traditional investors.

Risks & Challenges

Like with anything, there are risks. Fortunately, we have created many solid partnerships and business relationships to host these events into the foreseeable future. That said, here are some of the risks:

  • Weather becomes an issue at outdoor events.
    • This risk is mitigated by having the budget for a large ‘carnival’ tent to cover a basketball court
  • We do not raise the funds in time to execute our next scheduled event at Rucker Park.
    • In this case, we would adjust the date or the grandeur of the event to fit the timeline for raising funds or to fit the budget respectively.
