Live your best. Period.

Story

For about 40 years of their lives, 21st century menstruators must manage their monthly periods in much the same way as they did a century ago, using the same unsatisfactory options: pads, panties, tampons, and menstrual cups. All are limited in various ways in terms of safety, comfort, ease of use, leakage, odor, environmental hazards, and significant health risks, sometimes deadly (TSS).

In addition, menstruation, essentially a monthly “biopsy” that contains unique biomarkers of wellness and health, is simply discarded.

After more than four decades of first-hand experience with “the good, the bad, and the ugly” of menstruation, Hilla Shaviv, a serial femtech entrepreneur and biomedical engineer, realized that women deserved better.

“Tulipon was born out of the recognition of the neglect that women’s health has suffered over the years, and it became not only a business, but my life’s purpose”

– Hilla Shaviv, CEO of  Gals Bio, inventor of the Tulipon.

A Short history of period products

The Tulipon is a new branch in women’s wellness & health. A novel period product that combines the best of both worlds: the familiar usability and cleanliness of a tampon, and the capability to hold more fluid for longer times and the eco-friendliness of the menstrual cup (up to 12 hours!). With its added layer of biomarker monitoring, the Tulipon essentially turns your monthly bleeding into a “biopsy” used to monitor and screen your health. The first two available biomarkers are the menstrual bleeding amount and vaginal pH (learn more about these in our FAQs).

“Tulipon is the unique approach to women’s menstrual health. It will finally give an answer to women experiencing heavy menstrual bleeding. In the future, it will enable women even better health monitoring by leveraging this monthly information and creating a new and meaningful approach to women’s health.”

– Dr. Amos Ber, OBGYN, Chief Medical Officer of  Gals Bio.

The Tulipon’s Features

Here is how your support will help us reach our goals

Hundreds of women have already tried Tulipon and love it. Now, we need your help to open a mass production line and make this revolutionary product available to every menstruator out there!

The Tulipon is currently being produced in our own “clean room” and under regulation, one unit at a time. We want to produce many more units, lower their price and make sure every menstruator has access to the Tulipon. So, we are looking to raise $1 million US to be finalize the Tulipon’s commercialization and set up a mass production line

To achieve this goal we came up with exciting perks for our backers, including not only great discounts but also a FREE sample pack of 4 units that will be shipped first, before the main perk, so you can tell us what size you want your main perk in! You will also get access to our app for free with each perks.

Our Roadmap and use of funds

Want to support us but you don’t need Tulipons for your own use?

Gals Bio supports period poverty, gender equality, women empowerment and many more charities.

If you want to support us but do not need the Tulipon for yourself or for any menstruator in your close cirlces, we will be happy to donate Tulipons in your name to a charity of your choice or one of the charities we wholeheartedly support!

As we progress towards our goal we will be adding more exciting perks and options to choose from!

The more funds we raise, the more features we can add to the Tulipon, such as (but not limited to!!) antibacterial coating, more biomarker tracking, and additional sizes.

See how the Tulipon is made

Q. What is the Tulipon exactly?

A. A new disposable menstrual product that combines the convenience of a tampon with the eco-friendliness and 12-hour wear of a menstrual cup. For the first time, users can monitor and control their health based on biomarkers. Tulipon consists of two parts: the applicator and the collection cup. To remove the Tulipon the user pulls the extraction string like a tampon. This closes the “liquid lock” valve and collapses the structure for easy extraction from the body.

Q. What can Tulipon track & measure?

A. The first two available biomarkers are the menstrual bleeding amount and vaginal pH.

Q. Why is checking my vaginal pH level beneficial?

A. Regularly monitoring your vaginal pH can help you gain insight into your vaginal health and address any potential concerns in a timely manner. If you experience unusual vaginal symptoms, itching, pain, or burning during urination or sex, consider using the Tulipon pH Test Applicator to check your vaginal pH. If your pH test result is higher than 5 or if you have persistent symptoms, we recommend that you contact your doctor for further evaluation and individual advice.

Remember that this pH test is not a substitute for professional medical advice. If you have any questions or concerns about your vaginal health, always consult your healthcare provider for appropriate diagnosis and treatment.

Q. What does my menstrual flow and volume tell me about my health?

A. Recording your menstrual flow in milliliters can be useful for personal tracking and understanding your cycle. The volume of the menstrual effluent can indicate various changes to women’s health, such as pre-menopause, iron deficiency and more.

Q. How do I know which size Tulipon I need?

A. All of our perks come with a free sample pack of 4 units, 2 of each size. Once we start shipping you will receive your sample pack first to try, and then you can inform us which size worked best for you so you can receive your main perk in the right size.

Q. Can I support Tulipon even if I am not from the US?

A. Yes, you can! Our campaign is open to residents of the US, EU and Israel. You can still participate from other areas of the world by choosing our virtual perks or our donation to period poverty charity perks. If you wish to pre-order products, please note that we will not be able to ship them to your zone until we have completed our regulatory path there.

Q. When can I expect to receive my Tulipons?

A. If all goes as planned, we expect to start shipping in December 2024. Backers who purchase the 6-month or 12-month subscription through our campaign will be given priority.
