Background

The Swordfisher is our interpretation of the ideal diver watch, a robust combination of technical functionality, practicality, and aesthetic.

The conceptual design of Swordfisher was inspired by our (designers) recent foray into diving. The swordfish (Xiphias gladius in Greek) is named after its long-pointed, flat bill, which resembles a sword. The dial, case back, and hands of the watch display prominent features of a strong swordfish.

The diamond-shaped design of the hands is inspired by the shape of the swordfish, and the extended design at the end of the second hand reflects its long bill.

We allocated great attention to the design of the case back. The 3D graphic depicts a swordfish, jumping out from the sea under the rising sun. Our UW style represents consistency and attention to fine detail, in which after 2 sample corrections of the 3D graphic, our team was satisfied with the final result.

All Swordfisher components, including the hands, are custom designed. They are masculine and blend with light very elegantly. The hands play a big part in giving the watch its identity.

The indicators and the hour and minute hand on Swordfisher are equipped with SuperLuminova C7 or BG W9 which provide the watch with very good illumination and readability in the dark. It features a nice cream white look and a beige colour in daylight.

Swordfisher’s line is powered by the well-acclaimed Miyota 9122 automatic movement. Its rotor rotates very smoothly, providing reliability and comfort for watch wearers. Beating at 28,800bph (4Hz), it boasts a 40-hour power reserve. The function of the month and week display makes the watch more dazzling.  The hacking and hand-winding functions enable you to synchronize time with hairline accuracy on the go.

The dial features two “deep eyes” which are multi-layered.

The reverse-arc dial is made by a process of injection. The dimensions of the curvature and height of the dial need to be accurate to ensure that the watchmaker can perfectly close the watch parts when assembling the watch.

The shape of Swordfisher’s indexes are oversized and trapezoidal and square-shaped luminous indexes at 1 to 12 o’clock. This ensures that the user can still read the time clearly while diving activities are in progress.

Swordfisher is equipped with domed sapphire crystal. The domed feature gives the watch a nice vintage look while still showing the dial from many angles. The sapphire crystal will have a double layer of Anti Reflective (AR) coating on the inside of the crystal to reduce reflections.

With advanced construction detailing, Swordfisher can withstand atmospheric pressure to a depth of 200 meters (656ft) under water. This ensures a sense of safety and reliability when wearers engage in underwater activities.

Swordfisher’s dial features month, date, and day displays. A hidden pusher used for setting the month hand, is placed at 2 o’clock. The design of the screw-down crown enhances the water-resistance of the watch.

Swordfisher is designed and manufactured to withstand the rigors of deep sea exploration, but it is also meant for those who live active lifestyles. The fully machined 316L stainless steel case is fitted with 200 metres of water resistance, fortified by a screw-down crown and case-back. The dial is protected by a scratch-resistant double-domed sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The 42mm case diameter perfectly displays the golden ratio of the watch.

We pay attention to every detail. As such, each watch defaults with a stainless steel bracelet or a top-grain leather strap.

Leather Strap

The leather straps arehand-stitched by artisans for a solid construction. The straps come with three different kinds of Italian leather, to keep you covered for all occasions and outfits.  Each one comes with a pair of quick-release spring bars so that you can swap between your selection of straps with ease.

Stainless Steel Bracelet//

A satin-brushed stainless steel bracelet with a well-finished clasp. Next to being very secure, the bracelet is also comfortable to wear and gives the watch a solid look.

We have opted for functional packaging that you will enjoy after unboxing. Your Swordfisher will be delivered in a watch roll box made of full grain cowhide leather that will age beautifully with use. The suede cloth inner lining keeps your watch protected during all your travels and adventures. The watch roll box comes with an instruction manual and warranty card.

Two Year Warranty//  Our watches come with a 2-year warranty. In case of a defect during this time period, your watch will be repaired free of charge.

Shipping // We will ship to anywhere in the world, with the exception of the following: Azerbaijan, Barbados, Belarus, French Guiana, Honduras, Mongolia, Peru, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Solomon Islands.

UW and OVD (another brand) have completed over 13 successful campaigns, both of which were delivered within the promised deadlines, and we are confident that our Swordfisher campaign will perform just as well. Over the years, we have received numerous compliments from previous backers and that has provided us with the motivation and desire to continue creating more innovative timepieces.

Last year, the core members of the OVD team, created the UW brand and moved to Taiwan. The new environment has allowed our design team to expand their vision, focus, and creativity. We look forward to sharing with you our newest design concepts and creations.
