Story

The Vokken was made with innovative craftsmanship and cutting-edge breakthrough technology.

In the very beginning of the thorough development process we set for our company the rules that are the base of truly exceptional knives.

After we created the set of rules that we strictly sustained through development process we were able to create the sharpest and ultra durable knives that will change your cooking experience forever.

Double beveled originally at 15 degree angles on both sides, the Vokken’s blade is made in line with the best and sharpest Japanese tradition. 

Helping you to cut through in most delicate ingredients and at the same time, Vokken is suited for heavy cutting as well.

The cutting edge’s sharpness and blade’s durability are one of the main features we look for in our kitchen knives.  We need them to maintain their out of the box sharpness and retention even after heavy and long use.

Even after a heavy usage, Vokken is easy to to resharpen and Vokken keeps a very clean and sharp edge for a long time afterwards.

With the exceptional AUS-10 High Carbon steel at its core Vokken not only maintains initial retention, it provides shock resistance at the higher level.

With an even higher composition of carbon AUS-10 in Vokken we have increased the ductility of the Vokken, which results in stronger blade ready to take on the tasks of the most rigorous food, even up to the frozen levels.

We have created Vokken by combining two Japanese knife crafting styles the Damascus and San-Mai forging traditions.

With the triple layered San-Mai forging technique the Vokken has an increased incredible level of durability and enhanced exceptional cutting power.

We do not compromise on safety and comfort, that is why the 40mm wide blade of Vokken gives extra maneuverability and knuckle operating area.

We believe that anyone can cook! To follow our vision we had to make Vokken universal in use, we have balanced our handle in the right spot, so no matter in what hand you use it you get the same features the Vokken has!

The grippy and strong handle of Vokken is made from ultra premium G10 fiber glass thermoplastic. It is rust proof and is easy to handle and in use. You simply can not go wrong with this handle. It provides the softest touch when in your hand.

We kept the high Rockwell hardness rate not only for our Blade but for what’s holding it! G10 is constructed of glass fiber sheets which gives unprecedented strength and at the same time it remains lightweight in Your hands.

The G-10 handle gives full Rockwell hardness M scale, making it scratch, shock and shatter resistant.

Important

  • Every knife needs sharpening once in a while. Please refrain from sharpening Vokken on regular tabletop sharpeners.
  • In case you opt in to sharpen the Vokken yourself, make sure to follow the following guidelines.
  • Sharpen it with a sharpening stone!
  • Make sure to find the right angle before sharpening. Vokken is 15 degree double sided, so be sure to find a right angle before starting the process.
  • Use lubrication on Your stone. If you decide to sharpen Vokken with our sharpening stone, make sure to apply water as lubricant. In case if You use a third party manufactured sharpening stone, make sure to read the instructions, as some stones do not need lubrication.

Remember: When sharpening knives with a sharpening stone, consistency is key. Be sure to use the same angle each time and sharpen both sides of the knife equally.

At Vokken team, we had passed many instances before being able to deliver what we present you today. We started by simply drawing the sketch of the simple knife and we started to put our style into it changing its attributes such as the blade form, and the design features of it.

When we realized that we got the right idea on paper visually,  and all our 3D visuals with our AR (Augmented Reality) was at our best liking we began the prototype production part.

We knew that prototyping meant the beginning of the production process, as we needed to find the right manufacturing partner. We were looking for the best partners in manufacturing as we know we could not compromise on the quality of the product.

We knew what we needed to do and after failing several times in getting the prototype, We eventually found the right partner and developed the mold that applied to our design.

Finding the right manufacturer to develop our specific tooling was hard as our pattern was new design and even a slight miscalculation could have meant that the final actual product might have been different from what we had in our sketches and 3D visuals.

So we started the prototyping and tooling process and later on we moved towards the multiple prototypes that were tested and the most outstanding one went on for further testing.

Before letting our knife in the kitchen setting, we made sure that our knife passes key tests of sharpness, durability and retention. We needed to make sure that the Vokken meets the high standard before it appears in actual cooks hands.

We ensured through post prototype testing that our knives would be able to undertake any kitchen cooking task and remain in the best shape and usability.

VIDEO PART

After the industrial tests we have outreached the chef cooks and asked them to test Vokken in the busiest kitchen of a restaurant. The chef’s loved the results!
