Invest in Our Youth by Investing in Their Talents

Story

Story Time!

ThingzThatMakeUGoHmmm is a online game show created by WeAre1CHICAGO.

WeAre1CHICAGO United, NFP is an organization that focus on creating programs, activities and events that financially support the younger generation in Chicago. With all that is going on today, we feel it is extremely important to support our youth and create a bridge to help make their dreams a reality. Some of the current programs we have is “I Love The 90s Millennium Virtual Show”, “ChiTown Movie Nite”, and “ThingzThatMakeUGoHmmm”.

“I Love The 90s Millennium Virtual Show”, is a tribute showcase to artists from 1990-2005. Hosted by Greg Owens, Dedrick D. Banks Gray, & SJ Williams.  Performances by various artists from episode 1-5! We have partnered up with WeAre1CHICAGO and ThingzThatMakeUGoHmmm to assist these artists and the production team during COVID-19. The audience can literally donate to these artists directly through CashApp to show support and win prizes.

“ChiTown Movie Nite”, gives independent filmmakers a platform to showcase their work while also bringing the city together. There is a submission process in order to be approved. This program takes place once a month.

“ThingzThatMakeUGoHmmm”, is a program that was specifically created to raise money for the younger comedians and entertainers in the Chicagoland area. This show will highlight the creativity, the humor and talents of our young Chicago natives, giving you 1 hour of pure entertainment!

My name is Jae Davis, born and raised on the south side of the Chicagoland area.  I’m able to live out my passion everyday as a producer who curates her own content. I also work with artists who are looking for platforms to share their art.

I see my city as something that has great potential and amazing creativity when it comes to our youth and young adults. In the past, our youth have been let down with our lack of involvement and consistency with helping to nourish and catapult their talents and gifts. It is important that we look past today’s and yesterday’s issues, and channel with them to future possibilities for their generation. COVID-19 will not slow us down.

Our team decided that this game show will help our country to #stayhome and #staysafe. We created a way that we can support our youth and young adults with donations and more opportunities during this second wave of the coronavirus.

This game show will give great energy… like the youth of the
90’s era that stood for unity, justice and equality. I am excited and thrilled to share with you, ThingzThatMakeUGoHmmm!

Easy As 1-2-3

The game show will consist of 2 teams of 4 players on each team. Each team  will have special invited guests (influencers, celebrities, VIPs, etc.) and  random individuals from our youth community. There will be 5 games with 3 rounds each game.  Each round gives each team a chance to win the cash prize for that game, allowing everyone to walk away a winner.

Youth can watch the show with a chance of winning monetary prizes to invest in their craft/school supplies by summarizing the episode or answering the questions asked during the game.

This series will be live on a weekly basis available via, Twitch,  YouTube and Facebook.

What We Need & What You Get

The support from our community can come in many forms. The first phase to build the consistency that we want comes at a price. We are asking for the public to invest in their youth. Our overall goal is to raise over $300,000, with a goal to donate at least $10,000 each week for 30 weeks.  However, we are requesting $60K at a time, to allow us to continue the process of fundraising as we build the pot. The funding that is raised will be used for the following;

  • Recording, Editing, Techs (hired youth and young adults in the community)
  • Promotion (Social media, Billboards, Radio)
  • Payment for Crew and Local Talent
  • Merch ( T-Shirts, Mugs, etc.)
  • Prizes for Youth watching (Money via Cashapp, Venmo, Paypal as well as School Supplies, Gift Cards…)
  • The winning pots for the games

All of contributors will receive the following:

  • Thank You Letter
  • ThingzThatMakeUGoHmmm T-Shirt
  • Name Entered on the ThingzThatMakeUGoHmm Hall for Fame via website
  • Newsletter recognition of your business if the donation is on the behalf of a business
  • Shoutout during the game show from our official host
  • Tax exempt for your donation via emailed letter

The Impact

We know just about everyone in Chicago wants to see these better days ahead and would like to participate the best way they can. Well, we’ve created the platform and now we need your help to push for our city.

This is not our first attempt to create resources for our Youth in Chicago.  We did a live show, bringing all of the popular local acts together, creating unity, diversity and overall more opportunities.  However, we didn’t have the monetary resources to promote it, therefore, majority of Chicago wasn’t able to support because they didn’t know that it was even happening.  That’s why, this year, we need your support.

Other Ways You Can Contribute

Every bit helps even if your donation isn’t monetary. Other items you can donate are the following:

  • Share the fundraiser on your social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter…)
  • Gift Cards (Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Visa..) to give away to the youth community
  • School Supplies  ( Binders, Pencils, Backpacks…)
  • Dorm Life (Printers, Lamps, Bedsheets, Cleaning Supplies..)
  • Photo Shoot (to help offer professionalism to our youth)
  • Marketing (to help promote the youth goals, activities and or projects, etc…)
  • Videography (to assist the youth in creating content for their projects, etc…)
