Water Resistant Magnetic band long battery life Powerful LEDs Attach to wrist, wall, car, bags, bike

Story

WIK is the light you need, at the moment you need it. A light on your wrist that frees up your hands. WIK features a uniquely stylish and comfortable design, an innovative magnetic band, amazing battery life, and LED lights that will not dim.

Let’s face it, the old flashlight and headlamp desperately need to evolve. WIK is the next gen light you’ve been looking for. When life comes your way, whether you’re on a run, hiking the trail, or blazing your own path, WIK is there when you need it. When other devices aren’t up to the task, or their battery died long ago, WIK is the natural evolution to fill your lighting needs.

Flashlights and headlamps have been around for ages. We are so used to them that its difficult to see that light needs an update. Have you ever tried using the light on your cell phone? Been frustrated that you can’t quite position it? Had a headlamp leave a mark on your forehead? Those days are finally over. Meet WIK!

Product review by Rusty Cannon:

“WIK is the best light I’ve tried, hands down. The powerful LED light provides a smooth and broad pan of light without the usual tunnel effect. It is water resistant and has an innovative magnetic band that allows you to use it in all kinds of ways- on your wrist like a watch, around a belt, around a pack strap, around a bike post, or just about anywhere you can fit the band around. When I first tried the WIK, I was shocked at how comfortable the lighting in front of me was. I had a nice big area of light as I wore it on my water bottle belt while I ran. It also goes great on any area you can secure it to on a running vest or water vest. The light and band are extremely light which is a nice change from bulky, bouncing headlamps.”

A lot of thought went into finding the right LED’s. WIK’s high efficient LED’s allow for optimal balance between battery life and brightness. WIK’s light is ambient so it lights up your entire area. WIK’s LED’s will never dim so you can enjoy WIK’s full luminosity for the entire life of it’s battery.

The red LED light will help preserve both your night vision. High and low intensities give you several lighting options. WIK’s unique white to red flashing mode makes you extremely visible to others.

Rain? Sweat? No problem. WIK is water-resistant. Feel confident that WIK will stand up to the elements. The band can also be removed for cleaning. WIK’s housing and band are both durable and comfortable. Much lighter than a typical flashlight or headlamp.

This is where WIK really sets itself apart. The band was one of the most difficult features to design, but I nailed it! WIK’s band opens up a world of possibilities and gives WIK unprecedented versatility.

The two sections of magnets allow you to orient WIK into several configurations. Point WIK’s LED’s up to light up a room. Point them down to light up a specific area.

WIK’s magnets are strong enough to attach through most materials, and keep it firmly in place. Attach WIK through the outside material and still be able to use the pocket. Genius!

Loop WIK’s band around anything: your wrist, your belt, a pipe, your bike, a tree branch, anything!

On top of that, WIK is weighted in such a way that it can even be draped over non-magnectic objects like a cupboard.

WIK’s ergonomic design makes the band peel on and off as opposed to snap together. The magnets are ribbed and fold onto each other creating a strong hold on and off your wrist.

WIK’s rechargeable lithium-ion battery coupled with its high-efficient LED’s gives it an amazing battery life and light output. WIK will last up to 6 hours on high, 12 hours on low and 3 days on flashing mode.

Most flashlights, headlamps, and other battery-powered lights dim with use. Not WIK. WIK’s patent-pending electronics keep the light from dimming. WIK will not dim as the battery is being used, and can be used while charging.

Forget the one-size (and color) fits all approach: WIK comes in a variety of colors, and two sizes. The regular size will fit most wrists and the smaller size will fit everyone else, even the little ones.

Whether you’re a DIYer, a runner, a cyclist, or a camper WIK was created for you. Have it on hand – literally.  WIK is the light that goes from one task to the next.

As an avid long-distance runner, I have struggled to find the right light. Running the ultramarathon’s night section is one of the biggest challenges – you either have to hold a flashlight or wear a headlamp which gets uncomfortable, causes tunnel vision, and often produces a kind of flat light that washes out rocks and roots on the trail making it more likely to trip and fall.

WIK is the perfect balance of light. Just enough to let you see the trail and decifer its nuances.

Most running lights on the market are trying to sell users on lumen count alone, but that misses the point.

Constant frustration of needing a light better than the one my phone provided led me to search for a better solution. It didn’t exist. So I set out to create one. Three years ago I ordered some LED strips and hot glued them to a velcro band. I took a USB cable, stripped the wires, and soldered the two together. Plugged it into a battery stick and put it on my wrist. And WIK was born. After three years of perfecting it, WIK is ready to share with the world.

It worked great. I took the idea to a top design firm, Espiritu Design in Salt Lake City and we proceeded to bring WIK to life.

We tested everything: button sound, tactile feedback, LED brightness vs battery life, which materials felt the best and so many magnets. The magnetic band had to be perfect. I am so happy with how it turned out, and I’m confident you’ll love it to.

I will never forget the day I was handed six high-definition prototypes. WIK was finally here and was even better than I imagined. It’s versatility blew me away.

I can’t wait for you to have one. I hope you’ll join me on this journey to take these last few steps and put WIK out into the world that needs it. I’ll be forever grateful to the backers and believers on Kickstarter and Indiegogo for joining me in making it happen. THANK YOU!
