The titanium ZEROHOUR MQR (Magnetic Quick Release) is an ultra-compact and ultra-cool quick-release connector that is simple in design and without compromise on quality and strength. Precision-machined from solid pieces of grade 5 titanium (also available in aluminum), the MQR is a must-have for your every day carry.

Designed to go beyond a simple keychain holder this quick release system uses smarter construction and two ultra-strong magnet to let you attach your keys, a pocket knife, small flashlight, or other keychain gear, so you can grab them off a belt loop, bag, or your EDC organizer, and put them back in a flash.

What is Tritium?

Tritium is used as a radioactive tracer, in radioluminescent light sources for watches and instruments, and, along with deuterium, as a fuel for nuclear fusion reactions with applications in energy generation. The beta particles emitted by the radioactive decay of small amounts of tritium cause chemicals called phosphors to glow.

Sounds awesome! Is it legal?

Yes and no. The laws regarding tritium are kind of vague depending on your country. With that said ZEROHOUR does not endorse or sell tritium vials, but you may be able to find them online somewhere.

OK, so how did you get it to glow without tritium?

We made mini “glow-in-the-dark” vials! These are completely legal everywhere and will be available in green, red, and blue. They are available as an ADD-ON to your pledge reward. Installation is easy and we will provide instructions in a future backer update.

Similar to other glow-in-the-dark products, you can “charge them up” by shining a bright light source (e.g. the Sun, flashlight, etc.) on them for a few seconds. They will actually glow brighter than tritium vials and are much more affordable.

Do you carry pepper spray or other self-defense tool on your car keys? In those situations where your pepper spray is attached to your car keys, you can access it without having to take your keys out of the ignition. The MQR can quite literally be a life-saver.

So how strong are the magnets?

Take a look at this “weight lifting” video of it easily lifting 2.5 lbs. The maximum strength of the magnets is approx. 4 lbs.

All of our reward levels are at special crowdfunding rates. We want our backers to be the first to receive these at the lowest price possible after factoring in fees, manufacturing, and shipping costs. The more quantity you buy, the lower the price of each MQR. Additional MQRs can be purchased on BackerKit at the end of the campaign.

BACKERKIT ADD-ONS

At the end of the campaign we will be using BackerKit to manage pledge rewards. You will be able to provide us your shipping address as well as purchase additional MQRs, Glow-in-the-Dark vials, and other ZEROHOUR products from previous campaigns (e.g. XR2 Flashlights, APEX Pens, EDC Organizers, etc.) to ship along with your MQR reward.

Glow-in-the Dark Vials: $5 for 3 of each of ALL the colors (3 x Red, 3 x Green, and 3 x Blue) will be available.

HOW TO INSTALL/REMOVE/REPLACE VIALS

Although each MQR will come with Green Glow-in-the-Dark vials already installed, you may eventually want to swap them out for different colors or your own tritium vials if you have them. If you do, please watch our how-to video below.

• Loctite (or other trusted brand) Threadlocker Blue or Red
• ZEROHOUR MQR
• Tritium vials or Glow-in-the-Dark vials (Size: 1.5mm x 6mm)
• Tweezers

PLEASE NOTE: We will be using Threadlocker Blue when assembling your MQR so when you receive yours removing the cap will take a bit more force than seen in the video. Threadlocker Blue is “removable/medium hold” while Threadlocker Red is more of a “permanent/strong hold” solution. If you don’t plan on ever changing out your vials or you want a more secured cap, you should consider using Threadlocker Red. These are available at your local hardware store or online.
