Thanks to generators, we are always assured of power sources in case of electric power failures. But these come at a cost, like the maintenance costs, gas and oil purchase, not to mention environmental pollution.

Zero Breeze is promising to sort this problem with its portable and universal power station, ElecHive 2200. The device is currently crowdfunding on the famous crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.

What promises to set the ElecHive power station apart, is its powerful integrated Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (LiNiMnCoO2) battery system, which uses the latest technology.

It provides 2200W of power and has a capacity of 2400Wh, meaning you will have hours of power usage and be able to power multiple electronic items. That means you can use it to power your laptops, TVs, CPAP machines, drones, lights and projectors. You can also power heavy electronics like hairdryers, saws, home appliances, medical devices, and charge your electric car. The power station supports all sockets across the globe with the option of choosing your preferred type when purchasing.

Better still, it has five ports allowing you to charge multiple devices simultaneously. The ports include a fast-charging USB-C, USB-A, regular 12V DC and 110V AC ports, and 180W car charging port.

ElecHive power station itself is fast charging in about 3 hours, and charges from multiple options. You can charge it using solar panels, where Zero Breeze sells its dedicated panels as an add-on.

The other options are charging it directly from a power source of using your car charger. It is also possible to charge the power station from these three power sources at the same time.

In addition, ElecHive 2200 combines only 6 18650 batteries in its pack, making it smaller and lighter than competitors whose battery packs have a combination of about 300 batteries.

The ElecHive weighs only 34lbs and is the same size as a basketball for easier portability and the need for a large storage area.

But that’s not all that this powerful battery has to offer. In fact, the high demand for NMC(LiNiMnCoO2) batteries places ElecHive right in the middle of the demand for electric vehicle batteries and energy storage systems that prefer to use this type of battery.

NMC(LiNiMnCoO2) has a high energy density, low-temperature resistance, high cycle efficiency, and stable chemistry, making it ideal for such uses. Electric vehicles like BMWi8, Tesla Model 3, Jaguar I-Pace, and Audi e-Tron GE are some of the high-end electric cars that use NMC batteries.

Due to the low-temperature resistance quality, the battery that EleHive power station uses works in all seasons. It can work in temperatures as low as 4 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 degrees Celsius).

When the temperature falls below 32°F/0°C, which is the battery’s default value, the temperature control model changes the direction of airflow of the inverter heat, guiding the warm air downwards to keep the battery pack warm. It can withstand temperatures as high as +104 degrees Fahrenheit (+40 degrees Celsius). The battery also allows for usage of the ElecHive both indoors and outdoors.

Although the Early Bird and Indiegogo discount prices of $1,049.00 and $1299.00 make ElecHive affordable, the retail price of $2499.00 makes it more expensive than competitor power stations. For example, Bluetti AC 200 and Goal Zero Yeti 1500X are retailing at lower prices of $1,999.99 and $1,999.95.

However, backing the project allows you to enjoy some of the additional items from the achieved goals. These include a car charger, 1-year warranty, dustproof bag and a two-way charging USB-C.

Other add-ons of the project are foldable solar panels that start from $548.00 for two solar panels and $996.00 for four solar panels. One solar panel goes for $299.00.

About Zero Breeze

Founded by Max, Zero Breeze grew from a camping dream of providing outdoor cooling solutions in 2014 to launching its first device, Mark 1 portable AC. This first product was designed in 2016 and crowdfunded through Kickstarter. An improved version, Mark 2 was released in 2019. ElecHive 2000 is the third product Zero Breeze is launching and crowdfunding for, with the hope of transforming power consumption in the absence of electricity.
