Sud Stud can easily expand over 200%, so it can easily fit almost any 6-8 ounce soap bar whether it’s from a homemade soap brand or a larger soap manufacturer.

If your soap is larger or irregular in shape than a ‘standard’ bar, we’d recommend cutting larger soaps in half so that you only use part inside Sud Stud.

By cutting in half, it helps those larger and likely more expensive soaps to last even longer (save more money) since you’re not exposing the whole bar to running water!

As outlined in the 72-second video above, I spent quite a bit of time to fully comprehend what the current marketplace options for soap accessories are and the pros/cons of each a loofah puff, natural loofah, bristle brush, and few less popular options that became the basis of how to engineer SudStud.

By first glance, SudStud may look rather simple, but as you’ll see below, there is quite a bit of complexity with every unique engineering aspect from the shape, size, and material being considered to create the optimal shower accessory, no matter what type of soap you choose to use with it. 

A Simple, Yet Complicated Design:

After countless iterations and revisions to my prototypes, you’ll find some important highlights below regarding the design and engineering of the final production model:

• Size — Optimally sized to fit the most common soap bar sizes with the ability to adapt to a larger or smaller without much effect on the overall efficiency of Sud Stud’s features. 
• Shape — Hexagonal shape is the optimal design for compatibility with the most popular rectangle shaped soap bars while also being compatible with round, square, or other irregular shaped soap bars.
• Pillars — Internally, you’ll find 5 pillars that provide support for the edges and holds the soap in place while also allowing SudStud to maintain form as the bather grips or squeezes while scrubbing.
• Combs — Patented Honeycomb Grid design reduces friction between soap and skin by 80% that allows one single bar of soap to last 5x longer while also creating 250% more soap suds than a bar alone. 
• Feet — Externally, 6 circular bumps that allow water to drain and air to flow underneath SudStud after you are done using so the sleeve and soap dry quicker to maintain quality and eliminate bacteria.
• Materials — Through testing flexibility, durability, drying, cleaning, safety, and cost of commercially available materials, I found Antimicrobial Silicone would perform the best for SudStud’s purpose.
• Textures — In addition to the material used, SudStud also offers two texture types on either side, one for deeper exfoliation and the other for a gentler scrub for those with more sensitive skin types.
• Reservoir — Covered holes on outer edges of the honeycomb prevents water from escaping and allows the bather to simply tilt or squeeze SudStud to dispense more suds from the reservoir when needed.
