Magware have been designed to address a major problem facing our planet. We throw away billions of single use plastic utensils every year, and many of them end up in our Oceans and Waterways. Plastics never fully break down but rather degrade into small pieces that resemble food scraps to fish and other sea animals. The Ocean Conservancy lists plastic utensils as among the items “most deadly” to sea turtles, sea birds, and other Ocean creatures due to their size and to the ease they enter our waterways.

We think the Bring Your Own (BYO) Cutlery movement could help reduce the number of disposable utensils that get thrown away every year. The same way as carrying drink bottles has started to become ubiquitous to people’s everyday lives, we hope to see non-disposable utensils being used in the same way. Magware utensils are a simple light-weight solution to help in this mission, by making them as organized and easy to carry as possible. We really hope that by promoting this movement, we can have a positive effect in helping against this crisis that is growing exponentially every year.

 It is possible to add on any number of Single Pouches if you are pledging for a Magware Full Set and want the option to carry one single set in its own pouch. 

We decided to use Hypalon for the pouches, as it is extremely durable, water proof, easy to clean and stain resistant. Hypalon is so tough it is the material that they make inflatable boats from. We have used high strength velcro for the closing mechanism. The full set pouch also has a thick elastic strap attached to give it an even firmer close. Both pouches should last a lifetime.

The Full Windsor team is very experienced in terms of designing and manufacturing new products, especially flatware. We have been doing it for the last 8  years, ever since Full Windsor was founded in 2011. Mark Windsor, our founder (tall, skinny dude below on the right), has been working as a product designer, bringing new products to life for the last 14 years. He has worked as a product designer for some of the world’s best design firms.

We successfully launched our Muncher Titanium Multi Utensil (see below) in 2017 and Splitter Multi Tongs in 2018 fulfilling all 7146 pledges. The Muncher went on to be awarded Outside Magazine’s ‘Gear of the Year’ 2018 and is now stocked around the world by reputable retailers such as REI amongst many others. Previous to this we successfully launched both our Nutter and Breaker Cycle Multi Tools on Kickstarter. We can’t state how much we appreciate all the backers sharing the journey with us and allowing us to do what we do.

We have been working with our manufacturer based in Guangzhou, China who specialize in engineering and manufacture of high end products for the last 7 years and have a great relationship together. We have been working on Magware with them for the past 6 months. On everything from prototype development to drawing up the final product and tooling specifications. They have already begun making tooling and will soon start production. The money raised from kickstarter will allow us to place an order for the initial production run.
