Asayoru Maid Cafe is LA’s only permanent maid cafe! We aim to bring the heart of the Akihabara Maid Cafe experience to the US~ 

At Asayoru, you can enjoy:

Though officially established in 2020, the story of Asayoru begins at UC Irvine in 2018!  Head Maid Sae and Maid Mei started their own maid cafe and anime convention at their alma mater, UCI, which garnered lots of love and attention from the community. The small college club turned into something much bigger, and many members came together to help create Asayoru. By the beginning of 2022, we opened the doors to LA’s only brick-and-mortar maid cafe, and have been successfully running it for over a year and a half!  

Asayoru is special in that:

• We’re here year round! Even when conventions aren’t happening, Asayoru is open and ready to welcome you home!
• We’re situated in the East LA area, close enough to several convention locations but comfortably away from DTLA traffic.
• We have a diverse cast of employees with a wide range of backgrounds and interests; surely there is one maid for everyone at Asayoru~
• Our maids have real working and performing experience under their belts, and are trained in food safety to ensure a high class experience for all diners
• We’re anime / idol fans too! Asayoru is not a mega-corporation, but actually a completely WOC-run business that desires to create the maid cafe of our dreams.

We have learned a lot and grown so much in our year and a half of being open, but operating in a small shared space without our own kitchen has limited us in many ways. As our lease with the current location is ending soon, Asayoru Maid Cafe is excited to announce our brand new project!

  We will be moving into our own standalone location by the beginning of 2024! We recognize that Asayoru would not be where it is today without the support of our Masters & Princesses – over time our space has been lovingly furnished by the fanart and gifts from our patrons, and our new space could not be complete without them. 

Thus, the goal of the Expansion Pact project is two-fold:

1. To create super duper cool backer- exclusive merch that showcases Asayoru’s growth, and so you can show off being part of Asayoru history! 
2. We would love to offer our beloved Masters & Princesses a chance to add your touch to our new space! Every backer will have the power to vote for different designs of the cafe, so together we can truly build the cafe of OUR dreams!

Digital Rewards

As stated in our goal, one of the rewards of being a backer is participating in designing our new space! We will be sending out a link to vote for several designs. This will include designs for the stage, front desk area, photo corner, and if we reach the stretch goal, our secret entrance! We’re so excited to see what we all come up together!

Other digital rewards like the wallpaper, audio file, signed selfies, and thank you videos will also be sent out via WeTransfer. 

• $30k Pixel Maid Sticker Sheets

All backers tier 2 and above receive a sticker sheet of all our current maids!  Also includes ribbon stickers to adhere to our rubber uniform charm!

• $40k Secret Entrance

With your help, we’ll be able to build a secret entrance to Asayoru, complete with magical transformation effects!

• $50k Original Song

Extra funds will go towards helping produce our second single! All backers will be able to vote for the song title, and will receive a link to download the song & a special digital thank you photo!

• August 14th: Indiegogo campaign begins, 2 month campaign
• Oct 14th: Campaign ends. Backer surveys will be sent out.
• Oct 21st: Voting link will go out to all backers to vote for the designs best suited for our new location! Winning designs will be announced on our Instagram by the end of the month. 
• Oct 31st : Funds will take approximately 2 weeks to process and transfer to us. In the meantime, we will be communicating with the manufacturers and begin producing all merchandise.
• Nov 31st: Manufactures will finish producing the products and ship to our partner in China.
• Dec 1st to Jan 6th 2024: Shipping all merchandise to USA. Expect delays due to holiday season. All digital rewards are sent out.
• January 2024: Grand Opening of Asayoru’s new home
• Beginning of February: We receive all merchandise and begin shipping out to backers.

Risks

We are in the process of signing the lease and beginning renovations, so the move will happen no matter what! But even on the chance that we have to delay opening , we are committed to making sure the perks & rewards will reach our backers on time. We have learned a lot from our previous campaign and are properly prepared for production and shipping issues. All designs have been finalized and samples have been produced, so production will immediately begin as soon as the campaign ends. We will be staying in close communication with the manufacturers along the way, and will update all backers first hand if anything comes up!
