Hola, somos Choya Films y nos apasiona hacer cine. Esta pequeña productora está formada por Regina y Mertxe, dos comunicólogas hambrientas por más cine local y hecho por mujeres. Actualmente Regina está estudiando su maestría en Dirección de Cine y TV y es ahí en dónde nace este bello proyecto y Bea del Pozo se une a ellas para crear magia. 

Where is the dog that gave you your name? es un cortometraje independiente que habla sobre el duelo de perder a un ser querido. Valentín, un granjero busca paz tras la muerte de su esposa y la encontrará en Xaratanga, la diosa Purépecha. 

Esta campaña servirá para recolectar dinero para costear la película. La historia ha tocado muchos corazones y es muy importante para nosotras que se cuente bien y para hacerlo necesitamos que nos ayudes a volverlo una realidad. 

Gracias al gran guion que Regina escribió, este proyecto se ha ido llenando de gente maravillosa como Mario Zaragoza (Hombre en llamas), Paty Blanco (La Seductora), y Daniela Peña (Supongamos que es Dublín). Con tu ayuda, podremos lograr que la producción esté al nivel de estos actores ya que tu donación servirá para rentar equipo, otorgar honorarios y costear la logística del proyecto en general. 

¿Qué necesitamos? ¿Qué obtienes tú?

Estamos buscando recolectar $160,000.00 (Ciento sesenta mil pesos MX) para cubrir gastos de los Departamentos de Arte (maquillaje, vestuario y vestimenta de set), Fotográfico (equipo de audio, luz y video), Producción (traslados, catering, logística y honorarios), y Distribución (participación en festivales internacionales). Tu donación ayudaría a que todo nuestro staff y talento puedan trabajar en condiciones óptimas y justas. 

Tu ayuda nunca pasará desapercibida, tenemos diferentes niveles de ayuda y cada uno es tan importante como el anterior. 

NIVELES DE PARTICIPACIÓN:

Nivel 1: $1 a $999 

Recibirás un agradecimiento en TODAS nuestras redes sociales como Instagram y Facebook. Para nosotras es muy importante que tu esfuerzo sea reconocido y que se grite a los 4 vientos tu colaboración. 

Nivel 2: $1,000 a $2,499 

Agradecimiento en créditos finales de la película. Tu nombre podrá salir en pantalla a nivel internacional si haces este tipo de donación. 

Además, recibirás un agradecimiento en TODAS nuestras redes sociales. 

Nivel 3: $2,400 a $4,999 

Agradecimiento ESPECIAL en créditos finales de la película. Los agradecimientos especiales tienen su propio espacio y alineación. Tu nombre o la de tu empresa podría aparecer en estos agradecimientos que se exhibirán a nivel internacional durante 2024. 

Además recibirás un agradecimiento en TODAS nuestras redes sociales. 

Nivel 4: $5,000 a $9,999

Conviértete en PRODUCTOR EJECUTIVO del cortometraje. Con tu donación podrás obtener un título de Productor Ejecutivo ya sea a cuenta personal o el nombre de tu empresa. 

Recuerda que también recibirás un agradecimiento especial en créditos finales y un agradecimiento en TODAS nuestras redes sociales llevando más lejos el impacto. 

Nivel 5: $10,000 en adelante 

Tu LOGO personal o de tu negocio saldrá en los créditos finales. Lleva tu marca más lejos de lo que pensabas. Al donar más de $10,000 podrás promocionar tu marca a nivel internacional ya que este cortometraje se exhibirá en festivales de cine alrededor del mundo. 

Además recibirás el título de Productor Ejecutivo, tu nombre aparecerá en los agradecimientos especiales y tendrás un agradecimiento en TODAS nuestras redes sociales. 

Nivel 6: $30,000 (al primer postor)

Si donas $30,000 tendrás el exclusivo título de PRODUCTOR ASOCIADO, un título solo reservado para esa persona o empresa que más aporte al cortometraje. 

Además de recibir este título tan importante, te enviaremos el traje que usará la actriz durante el rodaje. Este vestuario artesanal hecho a mano está confeccionado por Feliciana Bautista, una artesana michoacana que ha dedicado su vida a la vestimenta Purépecha. Esta artista ha hecho piezas para Tenoch Huerta y otras figuras célebres. No pierdas la oportunidad de tener este vestido de plumas de cuervo hecho completamente a mano.

Recuerda que también tendrás derecho a que tu logo esté en pantalla. Obtendrás un espacio principal en agradecimientos especiales y el reconocimiento individual en TODAS nuestras redes sociales. 

Es importante para nosotras que todos ganen ya que ayudar a la comunidad es importante para generar arte y distribuirlo. Tenemos el objetivo de llegar a nuestra meta juntos, pero en caso de que eso no sucediera redireccionaremos el dinero a los honorarios del talento y la renta del equipo de filmación, luz y sonido ya que son las áreas que más necesitan de nuestra atención. 

El Impacto

El cine, conocido como el séptimo arte, es la manera más clara de comunicar sentimientos, ideas y conceptos al resto de la población. Los cineastas tenemos la responsabilidad de contar historias que agreguen algo a la comunidad. En el caso de Where is the dog that gave you your name? es clave contar la historia de una cultura y una comunidad a través de Valentín y Xaratanga. El proceso de producción se ha cuidado desde el guion hasta el último día de edición para respetar y hacer justicia a la comunidad Purépecha y la cultura Michoacana.

El valor de este proyecto recae en su gente y el apoyo de la comunidad. 

Nos encanta hacer cine y esta no es la primera vez que un cortometraje ocupa nuestros días. Nepantla es la ópera prima de Regina- este cortometraje sobre la pérdida de un ser querido y de uno mismo fue reconocido a nivel internacional incluyendo el Toronto Women Film Festival al igual que a nivel nacional como en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Tequila o el festival Dulcísimo Ovario. Por otro lado, Mertxe se ha dedicado a producir cortometrajes independientes como Ya Veremos que alcanzó reconocimiento internacional en el Festival de Cine Pobre en La Paz o el Festival Internacional Cinema Imaginarios en Querétaro. 

Where is the dog that gave you your name? podría alcanzar niveles internacionales con tu ayuda. Tu donación podría llevar tu nombre a lugares que nunca te podría haber imaginado.

Riesgos y retos

Sabemos que soltar dinero no es tan sencillo cuando no conoces a las personas que lo utilizarán. Entendemos el proceso mental que surge a la hora de decidir la cantidad y tomar la decisión de donar. Sin embargo, seremos completamente transparentes durante la campaña de donación y cada donador será capaz de ver los avances y el uso de las donaciones a través de nuestras redes sociales.

Valoramos la transparencia, y queremos que tengas la certeza que tu donación será usada de manera responsable y cuidadosa. 

Al no ser la primera vez que trabajamos en una producción de esta magnitud, tenemos la experiencia y la capacidad de resolver cualquier problema o bache que se presente en el camino. Confiamos en nuestras habilidades para solucionar conflictos, pero también tenemos personas que han formado parte del medio por más de 20 años que nos ayudan con su sabiduría y experiencia en el campo. Hey, we are Choya Films and we are passionate about films. This small production house was founded by Regina and Mertxe, two communicators hungry for more local films made by women. Currently, Regina is studying for her Masters’s Degree on Film and TV Direction and this is where this wonderful project was born and Bea del Pozo joins them to create magic. For years, we’ve both dedicated our days to the media and love bringing different characters to life.

Where is the dog that gave you your name? is an independent short film that talks about the grief of losing a loved one. Valentín, a farmer, seeks peace after the death of his wife and will find it in Xaratanga, the Purépecha goddess of death.

This campaign will serve to collect money to fund the film. The story has touched many hearts and it is very important to us that it is well developed and we need your help to make it a reality.

Thanks to the great script that Regina wrote, this project has been filled with wonderful people like Mario Zaragoza (Man on Fire), Paty Blanco (La Seductora), and Daniela Peña (Supongamos que es Dublín). With your help, we will be able to achieve that production is at the level of these actors since your donation will be used to rent equipment, grant fees, and pay for the logistics of the project in general.

What do we need? What do you get?

We are looking to collect $160,000.00 (One hundred sixty thousand MX pesos) (about 9,000 USD) to cover expenses of the Art Department (makeup, costumes and set dressing), Photography (audio, light and video equipment), Production (transport, catering, logistics and fees), and Distribution (participation in international festivals). Your donation will help all our staff and talent to work in optimal and fair conditions.

Your help will never go unnoticed, we have different levels of participation and each one is as important as the last.

PARTICIPATION LEVELS:

Level 1: $1 a $999 ($1 to $59 USD)

You will receive a thank you on ALL our social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. For us, it is very important that your effort is recognized and that your collaboration is shouted to the 4 winds.

Level 2: $1,000 a $2,499 ($60 to $146 USD)

Acknowledgment in the final credits of the film. Your name will appear on the screen internationally if you make this type of donation.

In addition, you will receive a thank you on ALL our social media platforms.

Level 3: $2,400 a $4,999 ($147 to $293 USD)

SPECIAL thanks in the final credits of the film. Special thanks have their own space and alignment. Your name or that of your company could appear in these acknowledgments that will be exhibited internationally in 2024.

You will also receive a thank you on ALL our social media platforms.

Level 4: $5,000 a $9,999 ($294 to $586 USD)

Become an EXECUTIVE PRODUCER of the short film. With your donation, you can obtain an Executive Producer title either for a personal account or the name of your company.

Remember that you will also receive a special thank you in the end credits and a thank you on ALL our social media platforms furthering the impact.

Level 5: $10,000 en adelante ($586 USD and beyond)

Your personal or business LOGO will appear in the final credits. Take your brand further than you thought. By donating more than $10,000 ($586 USD)  you will be able to promote your brand internationally as this short film will be screened at film festivals around the world.

You will also receive the title of Executive Producer, your name will appear in the special thanks and you will have a thank you on ALL our social media platforms.

Level 6: $30,000 ($1758 USD to the donor)

If you donate $30,000 ($1758 USD) you will have the exclusive title of ASSOCIATED PRODUCER, a title only reserved for that person or company that contributes the most to the short film.

In addition to receiving this very important title, we will send you the costume that the actress will wear during filming. This handmade artisan costume is made by Feliciana Bautista, a Michoacan artisan who has dedicated her life to Purépecha clothing. This artist has made pieces for Tenoch Huerta and other famous figures. Do not miss the opportunity to have this raven feather dress made entirely by hand.

Remember that you will also have the right to have your logo on the screen. You will get a main space in special thanks and individual recognition on ALL our social media platforms.

It is important to us that everyone wins since helping the community is important to generate art and distribute it. We have the objective of reaching our goal together, but in case that does not happen we will redirect the money to the talent fees and the rent of the filming, light and sound equipment since these are the areas that most need our attention.

The Impact

Cinema, known as the seventh art, is the clearest way to communicate feelings, ideas and concepts to the rest of the population. Filmmakers have a responsibility to tell stories that add something to the community. In the case of Where is the dog that gave you your name? It is key to tell the story of a culture and a community through Valentín and Xaratanga. The production process has been taken care of from the script to the last day of editing to respect and do justice to the Purépecha community and the Michoacán culture.

The value of this project lies in its people and the support of the community.

We love making movies and this is not the first time that a short film has occupied our days. Nepantla is Regina’s opera prima- this short film about the loss of a loved one and oneself was recognized internationally including the Toronto Women Film Festival as well as nationally such as the Tequila International Film Festival or the festival Dulcísimo Ovario. On the other hand, Mertxe has dedicated himself to producing independent short films such as Ya Veremos, which achieved international recognition at the Festival de Cine Pobre in La Paz or the International Cinema Imaginario Festival in Querétaro.

Risks and challenges

We know that dropping money isn’t so easy when you don’t know the people who will spend it. We understand the thought process that goes into deciding the amount and making the decision to donate. However, we will be completely transparent during the donation campaign and each donor will be able to see the progress and use of donations through our social media platforms.

We value transparency, and we want you to be sure that your donation will be used responsibly and carefully.

As this is not the first time we have worked on a production of this magnitude, we have the experience and the ability to solve any problem or bump that arises along the way. We are confident in our conflict resolution skills, but we also have people who have been in the field for over 20 years and who help us with their wisdom and experience in the field. In community we are better.
