The Story of Far Breton Bakery

I started my bakery dream in 2003, shortly after graduating from the Culinary Arts Program at Madison College. Inspired by my childhood summers across France, and my internship at Cafe Boulud, my first company was the much beloved “The French Confection”. This first company located at several locations around Eau Claire lasted until 2009. This experience established the foundation for my unique business model: artisan croissants and other European inspired pastries, baked fresh from scratch the day of sales, and sold at a neighborhood farmers markets. I had an opportunity in 2019 to restart the bakery, so I went for it!

Dreams Came True!

Now, three and a half years later, Far Breton Bakery is a team of ten women, men, and non-binary persons who use the FEED Kitchen facility for our bakery operations. We sell at both Garver Feed Mill and the Northside Farmers Market. Far Breton Bakery also has kept our connection to the Eau Claire community through wholesale bakery at Menomonie Market Food Co-op and the Food Truck Friday events at Phoenix Park. We’ve bought and renovated our first tiny traveling bakery trailer which has allowed us to quadruple our production and sales.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!

We have outgrown our spot at FEED Kitchens,  and we need room to grow to meet the huge demands of the upcoming Dane County Farmers Market!

What We Need

We need to raise 30% of our down payment for the kitchen construction, equipment, and operating expenses through early 2023. The cost of the loan that we will apply for through Heartland Credit Union/WWBIC is projected for a total of $250,000. 

Our Campaign’s Goal: $75,000

What You Get

For every $500 campaign donation, you will receive a gift card by mail valued at $505 worth of Far Breton Bakery pastries, cakes, breads and assorted treats. Please redeem in increments of $50.50 per visit. No cash value.

Additional Benefits to the Community

A successful and growing bakery enterprise helps more than just our company! We have a solid hiring/training program in place for high school students interested in baking.  Our Pastry Workshop classes are an affordable way for anyone interested in learning more about specific types of pastries. And our business model -being an integral part of the local markets where we vend – contributes to the valuable communities of which we are proud to belong!
