The mother’s worst nightmare becomes real when her daughter is abducted by the scariest creature alive, remembering the past journey that takes her back to where it all started.

SYNOPSIS

Maya Johnson has been having recurring nightmares after her father’s death. She will travel back to the Philippines with her daughter, Mira, and her best friend, Shayne, to bury her dad’s ashes next to her mother’s grave. Although hesitant about the upcoming travel, she will honor her father’s wish. Maya’s mother died when she was born. She moved to Chicago with her father when she was 17 and hasn’t been back since. The nervous mother has mixed emotions about their trip, worrying for her daughter’s safety.​

Maya’s worst fear becomes real. Her daughter’s life is in the hands of a dangerous creature. She is terrified and must act fast to save her only child, taking her back to the familiar remote village where it all started. She finally unravels the truth about her mother’s bloodline that her father kept secret. The amulet necklace that she’s been wearing all her life. Now, Maya must choose to accept who she is or lose her daughter for good.​

The great battle between the brave mother and the head of the creature leaves Maya lifeless on the ground. Mira performs the never-done-before ancient ritual to save her mother. Will the daughter succeed?

MAYA “The Sacrifice” is a passion project. A film for a cause dedicated to Mental Health Awareness. Based on a story of a mother’s challenges and struggles in caring for her daughter, that suffers from mental illness. She’s fighting the greatest battle of her life that no one can fathom.  ​

Mental health crises are not something to ignore. It has to be addressed. Over the past 20 years, suicide rates have been on the rise. It is a major public health issue everywhere. Our mission is to promote & advocate awareness of mental health through an artistic approach. The goal is to help underserved communities by providing more resources for those in need. Every little help makes a difference in someone’s life.” HELPING OTHERS IS NOT A CHORE; IT IS THE GREATEST GIFT THERE IS.
