Studies have shown that there are very clear negative impacts from waking up from loud and sudden alarms. These tend to break and disturb REM sleep and can cause spikes in heart rate. This can lead which lead to Exploding Head Syndrome (EHS), spikes in blood pressure and cortisol levels and a higher chance of insulin resistance and cardiovascular diseases.

 

We designed Turtle with this in mind, and have developed the alarm function in such a way, that it starts off at a softer volume level and gradually amplify itself over a period of time. This allows you to wake up calmly, and without any big spikes in your heart rate.
