We are No Reception Club, a small but mighty travel essentials startup, founded by two parents (Gemma + Daniel) who absolutely love family travel, but grew extremely frustrated by the limited products available to make it easier. Our mission is to inspire parents to unplug and go on adventures with their little ones. We do this by creating intelligently and elegantly designed bags to make it easier to go on every kind of family adventure — from Saturday “daycations”, to overnight staycations, to week-long vacations!

Our first two products: the Getaway Bag and the Sidekick

Our first product is the Getaway Bag, a travel backpack so organized that parents can use it with their eyes closed, and while balancing a little one on their hip. We pushed the boundaries of organization, accessibility, versatility, and capacity in ways never seen before in a diaper bag, and without compromising on style or comfort. Our second product is the Sidekick, a hip pack that helps you breeze through diaper changes on-the-go, with a special pocket that allows you to retrieve diaper wipes one-handed.

The Getaway Bag is packed with intelligent features to simplify every part of traveling with your little one(s). 1. Instant Side Access 

Instant side access openings into the Main Compartment and the Essentials Compartment (see Feature #4) mean you can get to what your child needs fast. Side Access is super convenient when you’re wearing the bag, it’s adjacent to you, or it’s under the seat in front of you. 

But don’t worry, the Main Compartment also opens from the top and front too — so whatever you need is always just one zipper or buckle away.

2. Flexible Organization System

The Getaway Bag has a flexible organization system using 2 Adjustable Shelves that velcro securely inside the Main Compartment. The shelves enable you to create 1, 2 or 3 distinct sections. Because packing needs change based on your trip, your growing child, and your growing family, the flexible shelves help you adapt the Getaway Bag to your evolving organizational needs.

3. Odor-Resistant Emergency Compartment 

The Emergency Compartment contains inevitable “messes” that happen along the journey (think: diaper blowouts, muddy shoes, soiled clothing, wet swimsuits) and keeps them separate from the rest of your things. It’s fully lined in odor-resistant, waterproof, easy-to-clean fabric. And when it’s empty, the capacity simply transfers into the Main compartment so you don’t waste any space!

4. Essentials Compartment for critical items

The Essentials Compartment keeps all your diaper changing essentials (or other critical items once your little one is out of diapers) instantly accessible. It is spacious enough to fit multiple diapers, a changing pad, diaper wipes, and cream — and is 100% compatible with the Sidekick, making this an unbeatable travel system for parents.

For longer adventures, we have a detachable sternum strap add-on that can be easily attached (snap-on, snap-off) to the shoulder straps on the Getaway Bag for increased support.

Our personal commitment to choosing sustainable materials wherever possible from the very beginning, is what led us to only considering and ultimately choosing higher-priced recycled materials for both our shell and lining fabrics, as well as vegetable-tanned leather trim.

1. Retrieve Diaper Wipes One-Handed. 

The Sidekick’s back pocket is designed to hold a pack of diaper wipes, with a magnetic closure that enables you to quickly access wipes with just one hand… freeing your other hand to stop your little one from escaping!

2. Fits all Diaper Changing Essentials 

The Sidekick comfortably fits 4-6x diapers (depending on the diaper size), 1x diaper cream, 1x hand sanitizer, and 1x changing pad (included). The interior slip pocket holds a couple day-to-day essentials (e.g. phone, keys, credit card), while keeping them separated from your diaper items.

3.  Changing Pad (included) 

Ships with a soft, padded Changing Pad that folds up compactly when not in use. Water-resistant, easily cleaned fabric that is also entirely machine washable (lay flat to dry). Lined with custom hand-drawn illustrations featuring vignettes of parents and little ones on adventures together.

The Main Compartment: 3 Ways to Pack  

We know packing needs change as children get older and families grow, so we love how the Getaway Bag enables you to adapt to your family’s evolving needs.

Newborn: 1x baby carrier, 1x breast pump, 1x lunch bag (which can hold up to 2x milk bottles), 3x long-sleeve sleepers, 1x hand towel, 1x shoes, 3x toys.

Toddler: 3x long sleeve sleepers, 1x shoes, 1x hat, 2x large stuffed toys, 5x smaller toys, 3x books, 1x lunch bag, 1x bib, 2x snack/food items, 1x water bottle.

Our first (small) production run is already done! 

We finished 14 months of product development for the Getaway and Sidekick, and have already invested a lot of time and our personal savings to complete our first small production order earlier this year of 100 units (50x Getaway Bags + 50x Sidekicks). Unlike many other crowdfunding projects, we are well beyond the prototype stage. This approach requires more upfront investment, but it enables us to have a shorter and more accurate timeline for the delivery of your packs. Also, as a backer, you don’t have to wonder if this project will even succeed — because it already has! You can also take comfort knowing that other parents have already tested out the first small production and given us feedback below!

We should also mention that producing great products is not new territory for us. Our team has years of experience in consumer goods from companies including Timbuk2, Ralph Lauren, Theory, The North Face, Banana Republic, Amour Vert, One Kings Lane and Chairish. Not only that, we’ve partnered with one of the best technical bag manufacturers in the world, behind many of the household brand names in outdoor, travel, and fashion. 

The Vietnam-based factory we work with has been vetted extensively for workplace conditions, safety measures, and labor practices. The team’s working relationship with the factory extends past 15+ years, and we’ve worked closely with them during the design and development of this backpack. We are proud to call them both partners and friends.

For our Kickstarter and Indiegogo backers only, we will also stand behind all our bags with a lifetime guarantee. This covers manufacturing defects and excessive damage occurring during normal use. Normal wear and tear from everyday use is not covered. We hope your bag is perfect, but if you notice a problem, just let us know and we will work with you to make things right.

In order to reduce shipping costs for our early supporters, No Reception Club will cover a significant portion of the actual cost to ship. When you pick the reward, you will be shown what you will be charged to ship to your country. 

Note: Prices do not include taxes, customs fees and/or VAT. That will be subject to the laws and regulations of your individual country, and is due at delivery.  Any customs fees are not dictated by No Reception Club or Indiegogo. 

“I don’t see my country as a shipping option”: At this time, we will only be shipping to the US and Canada. If you do not see your country as a shipping option, it means that we currently do not offer shipping to that country. However, do send us an email if you are from a country that is not shown, we’d love to know about it. If there are enough people who are interested in your country such that it makes sense logistically to ship to that country, we will add it as an option later.

We (Daniel + Gemma) started NO RECEPTION CLUB in early 2020, just 9 months into parenthood, inspired by our love of traveling with our son Emmett — and wanting to make it easier to travel with him even more often. We’re based in San Francisco where we have lived the last 6 years, but previously lived in New York, Philadelphia, and originally a 15-minute-walk apart in Toronto, Canada over the span of 15 years.  We’ve been together a pretty long time.

Prior to starting NO RECEPTION CLUB, Gemma spent a decade as a merchant and fashion buyer at brands including Ralph Lauren, Theory, Banana Republic, and Amour Vert. Her experience spans women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, and home categories. Daniel has pursued a multi-year career in the tech sector at various digital-first consumer brands including Yelp, Chairish, and One Kings Lane. And finally, our veteran product designer Greg Bass has spent his over 20-year career designing innovative bags and other products for a multitude of brands including Timbuk2 where he previously led design, and The North Face.
