Short Summary

MISSION STATEMENT

THE GIRLS was originally a loose idea by director Krista Michaels to create a much-needed horror film completely led by trans women. The intent was to show the trials, tribulations, and absolute bigotry that people from the transgender community face on a regular basis, while also showing how we can rise above.

There weren’t many trans-led films, in general, much less horror films that we could grow our inspiration from, nor characters to aspire to. And with that, Krista set out to develop a complete script with the help of an all-trans-woman writing team—Brandy Bryant and Jessica D’Amelio. Together, the three hope to deliver a story to be directed by Krista Michaels, and Co-Produced by Blair Hawkins, Krista Michaels, Claudia Charriez, and Alice Wells.

Going further, we hope to put together a team of fantastic women for the crew to fulfill our dreams of delivering a great time at the movies!

 

What We Need & What You Get

We need your help! Everyone involved on The Girls team are truly passionate artists, who love film, but we are independent! And that means that we have no big studio backing. As a community–both horror and LGBTQ+ –we believe that we can make this amazing film happen!

We have a horror icon attached for the villain role of FOX HEAD, and we intend to look into some awesome cameos! We also need funding for all of our awesome practical special effects–everything from practical creatures to blood and gore, and so much more! The Girls will mostly be shot on location (and we’ll need to film the huge Halloween party sequence), but we will need funding for set construction, too. We have a major composer onboard to score our film, and lots of awesome talent and crew to take care of.

By helping our campaign with your contributions, we have many awesome perks! You could be an extra, and appear at the big Halloween party sequence! Or you could spend a day on set! How about the VIP Premiere? Attend the wrap? We also have an Associate Producer package, as well as an Executive Producer package!!! What about getting creative with a kill? You could create a kill for actor Jonathan Lee Foster (Bull) to perform on the limited edition Blu-ray!

But not everyone can afford big perks like that, and that’s absolutely okay! Because we have tons of other great perks! Such as a Special Thanks credit, signed postcards and scripts, The Girls t-shirt, posters, personalized thank you videos, a limited edition Blu-ray, a swag package, and much, much more!

The Impact

If this campaign is successfully funded, you will help support an entire crew of insanely talented, independent filmmakers, many of whom are trans, LGBTQ+, allies, and general horror fanatics! We love movies, and with your support, you would be lifting up an entire community, and helping give momentum to a new wave of trans writers and filmmakers. We are people, too, and our community is filled with talented artists just waiting for their big break!
